The Office of the Prime Minister has played a key role in the socio-economic development of Uganda from 1962 when Uganda gained independence. The Office, now held by Uganda's tenth Prime Minister, Rt. Amama Mbabazi, is the leader of Government business and is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient implementation of government business and for performance assessment in the public and private sectors.
