Associate Professor Lydia Mazzi Kayondo Ndandiko is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Geomatics and Land Management, School of the Built Environment, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology, Makerere University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Surveying from Makerere University, a Master of Science degree in Geo-Information Management from ITC, Enschede Netherlands¬, a Licentiate of Technology in Technoscience Studies from the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden and a PhD in GIS awarded jointly by the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden and Makerere University.
Prof. Lydia has risen through the ranks from Teaching Assistant to Associate Professor and Head of Department of Geomatics and Land Management which she joined in 2002 as a Teaching Assistant. She is the Immediate past Chair of the East African Land Administration Network (EALAN) and has been a lead consultant on various projects in Uganda, IGAD region and internationally. Prof. Lydia is widely pushed with over 20 peer-reviewed publications in international journals. She has supervised to completion over 15 postgraduate students including PhDs and MSCs at Makerere University and is an external examiner for many universities in the region.
Prof. Lydia is a Registered Surveyor of Uganda (SRB 338), a Fellow of the Institution of Surveyors of Uganda and a Member of the African Association of Remote Sensing the environment (AARSE). As a Senior Surveyor/GIS Expert, Prof. Lydia has provided her expertise to FAO, MLHUD, GIZ, ZoA Uganda, Un habitat and many other entities.
Prof. Lydia is happily married to Dr. Charles Ndandiko and is a mother to 4 children. She serves her community as a Fireplace (Married Fellowship) Leader with Worship Harvest Mukono.
Prof. Lydia is a Princess (Omumbejja) from the Balangira Clan of Buganda Kingdom and a proud daughter of a famous Headteacher of Busoga College Mwiri – Late Prince G.W. Kayondo.
