The Ugandan Economy is estimated to grow by 6.4% in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26 compared to 6.3% recorded in FY 2024/25, according to the preliminary Estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The services sector remains the largest contributor to the GDP, accounting for 42.1%.

He added that the over 30 years oh his service unquestionably fronts him as a formidable pillar in the Audit function.

The Uganda Business Inquiry (UBI) 2019/20 was conducted by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to generate comprehensive and reliable statistics on business establishments in Uganda.

Some of the insights in the report include;

๐Ÿ“Œ Total Gross Output was UGX 93 trillion.
๐Ÿ“Œ Value Added UGX 58.5 trillion.
๐Ÿ“Œ The VA:GO ratio was 62.8 percent.
๐Ÿ“Œ Monthly average earnings were UGX 539,379.
๐Ÿ“Œ The total value of operating costs was UGX 19,600 billion.
๐Ÿ“Œ The total value of assets was UGX 173 trillion.
๐Ÿ“Œ The Labour Productivity was UGX 20.5 million per year.

๐Ÿšœ AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHING
๏‚ง Gross Output in Agriculture, forestry and fishing was UGX 3,849 billion.
๏‚ง Value Added in the sector was UGX 2,903 billion.
๏‚ง The VA:GO ratio in the sector was 75.4 percent.
๏‚ง The monthly average earnings in the sector was UGX 655,978.
๏‚ง The total operating cost in the sector was UGX 955 billion.
๏‚ง The total assets in the sector UGX 7 trillion.
๏‚ง The Labour Productivity was UGX 21.1 million per year.

63.9 percent of the HHs were engaged in agriculture in 2024/2025

56.6 percent of HHs engaged in agriculture all 3 years

Of the HHs that were engaged in agriculture all 3 years, 90.9 percent were crop growing

There was an increase in the percentage of HHs growing coffee, cassava and Banana for Food (Matooke) between 2021/22 and 2021/2025

The percentage of HHs growing coffee increased by 4.7 percent, cassava by 5.1 percent between 2021/22 and 2024/25

The percentage of Agric HHs receiving extension services increased by 3.1 percent percent between 2021/22 and 2024/25

Household and Housing conditions:
Improved water access rose from 70.2 percent to 78.4 percent; electricity access increased from 65.2 percent to 74.8 percent.

Access to and use of financial Services:
Mobile money access among persons aged 15 years and above increased from 34.4 percent to 47.7 percent; Bank account ownership increased from 6.0 percent to 8.1 percent.

Household Enterprises:
Nationally, households that operated enterprises increased from 36.9 percent to 38.8 percent

Poverty Dynamics:
8.9 percent were chronically poor across all three survey years, 14.5 percent moved into poverty while 9.7 percent moved out of poverty.

Findings from the Uganda Harmonised Intergrated Survey

Population Characteristics:
The proportion of male heads decreased by 2.0 percent from 66.3 percent in 2022 to 64.3 percent in 2025 and 5-member households increased by 5.8 percent from 44.6 percent to 50.4 percent.

Education:
The proportion of persons aged 6-12 years who were attending school increased by 9.1 percent, from 85.5 percent in 2022 to 94.6 percent in 2025 and the literacy rate among persons aged 10 years and above increased by 11.7 percent from 73.6 percent in 2022 to 85.3 percent in 2025.

Labour Force characteristics:
Persons aged 15 years and above in Subsistence work declined from 30.4 percent to 25.8 percent and unemployment rate increased slightly from 10.2 percent to 11.0 percent.
