EOC - This morning, representatives from the Abbeville County Fire Service joined emergency management, public safety, local industry leaders, and community partners for the latest Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting.

What is the LEPC?
The Local Emergency Planning Committee brings together emergency responders, government officials, facility managers, and community leaders to evaluate potential hazards, develop emergency response strategies, and ensure our county is prepared for any critical incident - particularly those involving hazardous materials.

Why is it important?
Effective emergency response requires detailed pre-planning and clear coordination long before an incident occurs. By bringing key stakeholders together at one table, we ensure seamless communication, shared resource allocation, and a unified response strategy across all agencies.

Strong inter-agency partnerships are the backbone of public safety in Abbeville County. Working closely alongside our local industries, municipal departments, and emergency response partners allows us to continuously strengthen local preparedness and keep our community safe.

Thank you to our EMA Coordinator Kayla Rhodes for regularly organizing these meetings. And we thank all the partner organizations who dedicate time and resources to planning, preparing, and protecting Abbeville County!

LOWNDESVILLE - This afternoon just past 3:15PM, Abbeville County 911 received notification of a motor vehicle collision involving a dump truck and an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Highway #71 & Highway #81 just outside the Town of Lowndesville.

Lowndesville Fire Department (Station #4), ANTREVILLE FIRE DEPT. (Station #3), Diamond Hill (Station #31), Calhoun Falls Fire Department (Station #12), Abbeville County Department of Public Safety (ACEMS) and Abbeville County Sheriff's Office responded.
