City of Abbott Abbott is a city in Hill County in Central Texas. Founded in 1871 and incorporated in 1916, Abbott is named for Joseph Abbott, it's representative then.

Abbott was founded in 1871 as a stop for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and was named for Joseph Abbott, who represented the area in the Texas legislature at the time. Its population peaked at 713 in 1914 and has declined since. The town was incorporated in 1916. Abbott is located on Interstate 35 and is at 31°53′2″N 97°4′32″W (31.883865, -97.075680). au, the city has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2). The City of Abbott is served by the Abbott Independent School District and home to the Abbott High School Panthers. In 2015 there were 300 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Abbott is the birthplace of American singer-songwriter and actor Willie Nelson and his sister, pianist Bobbie Nelson. It is also the birthplace of former National Football League college scouting executive Aubrey Clyde "Red" Phillips, Jr, (November 14, 1929 - August 13, 2009).

Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, we will need to suspend services for Tuesday. We will be recovering the Monday routes next Monday 2/2/2026. All other service days will be pushed one day forward for the remainder of the week. If conditions remain hazardous for Wednesday, we will promptly inform you of the changes. See below for updated services this week

UPDATE - Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, trash services for Monday are suspended. All services will be pushed one day forward for the remainder of the week. If conditions remain hazardous tomorrow for Tuesday, Waste Connections will update the schedule.

Waste Connections will be monitoring weather conditions and road safety this weekend to determine whether Monday pick up could be postponed/canceled. As a guide, set your trash out, and it will be collected when traffic conditions are safe.

This is an update from the city of Abbott on the water well. The new pump and motor is in place and fully operational. You may return to normal use of water. Thank you for your help in conserving water during this critical time. May our community and citizens continue to be blessed!

This is an update from the city of Abbott on the water well. Due to a minor setback the well pump is now expected to be in operation by noon tomorrow. We will update you as soon as the Well is running again. Thank you for your patience on this matter.

This is an update from the City of Abbott on the water well.

We have obtained the necessary parts and work will begin today to pull the old pump and motor from the bottom of the well. This process is expected to take 2 to 3 days and the hope is to have the Well back online by Friday evening. Thank you for adhering to the no-watering conservation practices! Hopefully, we can lift the conservation request by Friday evening. We will update you as information becomes available. Your concern for your city and fellow Citizens is greatly appreciated!

Due to repairs happening to the main well, the city asks everyone to please refrain from outside watering until the repairs are complete. Repair time is not known, but will likely to be through the weekend; possibly into next week.

We will notify everyone when the repairs are complete. We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and ask that you please share this with your family and neighbors as well.
