! Charlie Harger from Kiro News Radio shares the Legislature quietly passed a bill that will have SIGNIFICANT impacts on local neighborhoods and cities. HB 2266 Would allow for Transient/Homeless Housing/Shelters to be out right allowed within most areas, aside from Industrial Zoning.

Addicts? ✅ Transitional Housing for Offenders? ✅

Why is no one talking about this? Charlie will be live on KIRO RADIO at 7:30 to discuss. Link to RADIO in the comments & the Bill. From HB 2266 👇

🚨 A city may not prohibit indoor emergency shelters, transitional housing, indoor emergency housing, or permanent supportive housing (STEP housing) under certain circumstances.
The extent of this prohibition depends on the type of housing involved. For example, a city may not prohibit transitional housing or permanent supportive housing in any zone where
residential dwelling units or hotels are allowed. Similarly, a city may not prohibit indoor emergency shelters or indoor emergency housing in any zone where hotels are allowed,
unless the city has adopted an ordinance authorizing indoor emergency shelters and indoor emergency housing in a majority of zones within a 1-mile proximity to transit. A city may impose reasonable occupancy, spacing, and intensity use requirements on STEP housing for public health and safety purposes. These requirements may not prevent the siting of a sufficient amount of STEP housing to accommodate the city's projected need
under its comprehensive plan.

Congratulations Washingtonians - you now have an Income Tax...
In defiance of our Washington State Constitution...unbelievable.
But this isn't the first time our legislature has openly given their collective middle fingers to the Constitution.

This legislative session and the one before it have been absolutely disastrous for Washington families and businesses.
Thank Democrats because that is who rammed this through.
Republicans spent a full 24 hours on the floor presenting amendments to moderately mitigate this garbage legislation - sensible things.
Democrats voted them all down.

It should be abundantly clear that Democrats in Olympia ( who hold a supermajority ) DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.
In the last two sessions they have consistently, and with reckless abandon, voted to raise every tax imaginable, create new ones, jack up fees for literally everything, and strip your rights as a parent and your rights as a voter to choose your own sheriff.
Never have they considered they have a spending problem.
And they don't want you to be able to look into their waste, fraud, and abuse.

They. Do. Not. Care.

Elections have consequences.
How many people have to slip into poverty?
How many have to make unconscionable choices under the relentless, crushing, cost-of-living burden imposed on them by our government?
How many families have to make the decision to move away from the state they love because they are priced out?
How many small businesses will continue to close up shop?
How many large businesses decide to pack up and leave for greener pastures and take their jobs and dollars with them?

And to those of you that keep voting for these people and think this is all brilliant - who do you think they will come after next when they run out of "millionaire's" money?
If you think this tax stops with millionaires - you are a moron.

Thank you to our GOP State reps that fought their asses off to stop this train wreck from happening. It was a heroic effort.

WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS PASS INCOME TAX: After more than 24 hours of debate on the floor of the Washington state House, Democrats have approved an income tax.

The bill will impose a 9.9% tax on Washington adjusted gross income exceeding $1 million. Democrats refused Republican attempts to add an amendment blocking future Legislatures from lowering the threshold. They also voted against an amendment to allow the people of Washington to vote on the measure.

Republicans were uniformly opposed to the bill, noting that the state Constitution bars an income tax.

The legislation now heads back to the Senate and, with passage, will be sent to the desk of Gov. Bob Ferguson.

More coverage to come.
