Another active weather pattern will set in once again across the area through the early portion of the week. A cold front moving through the region later today will lead to thunderstorm development across northeast SD and west central MN. Some storms could turn severe with large hail up to 2 inches in diameter and damaging winds between 60-70 mph. A Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) to Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather has been posted for later today and tonight. For Tuesday, the risk shifts south into southern SD and diminishes to a Marginal Risk.

đźš§ There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) across central SD for severe storms this evening into the overnight hours. The main threats are wind gusts of 60 mph and 1 inch diameter hail.

đźš§ There is a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) across far eastern SD and a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) across south central and northeast SD into west central MN Monday afternoon and evening. The main risks will be wind gusts of 60-70 mph and 1 inch diameter hail.

A Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather has been posted for parts of western and central South Dakota for this evening into the overnight hours. Any storms will be capable of damaging winds up to 60 mph and large hail up to 1 inch in diameter.

A few showers/weak thunderstorms are working their way across eastern SD currently. These will continue through the rest of the afternoon. Storms could return to central SD late Sunday night into early Monday before moving east through the day Monday.

Foggy conditions will linger through mid morning across parts of the northeast SD into west central MN. A few showers will also be possible across south central SD into parts of northeast SD and west central MN this morning. This activity could perhaps lingering as late as the mid afternoon hours across far southern and eastern SD and western MN. Mostly cloudy skies will give way to more sunshine from west to east through the day. The remainder of the weekend looks more dry and less humid. Storms could return to central SD late Sunday night and early Monday before shifting into the eastern portion of the state into western MN on Monday and Monday night.

The outlook for the next few days calls for on again/off again showers and a few thunderstorms, none of which are expected to be severe. A breeze from the southeast turns gusty at times this afternoon before switching around to the west to northwest on Saturday. Temperatures will remain slightly below normal the next couple days before returning closer to average early next week.

Ongoing rain showers with embedded thunder ends this morning. Dry conditions are forecast for much of the next couple of days. Near to slightly below normal temperatures across the region are also expected through the weekend. Unfortunately, the high humidity is expected to stay, too.

Today’s precipitation will come mainly in the form of showers, but we are expecting there to be a couple thunderstorms thrown into the mix. A Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe storms will be possible from central through east central SD with a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for portions of north central and northeastern SD. Large hail up to 1” in diameter and damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph are the main threats.
