๐Ÿ‘‰This weeks Community Partner Spotlight goes out to the entire CCAP Pacific County team!

We are grateful for the partnership and support CCAP continues to provide throughout Pacific County. Their team consistently connects individuals to Destination Hope and Recovery and works alongside our staff to help support community members navigating difficult situations.

We love running into them out in the community and seeing them at local events. They are familiar faces that continue to show up, stay involved, and be part of the work happening across Pacific County.

Our staff especially want to shout out Marshall Disney, Michelle Lindgren, Glenn York, Stacy Townsend, and Mckenzie Lorton. We know there are many more people who make up the CCAP Pacific County team, and we appreciate all of you and the work you put into supporting the community.

Honorable mention to Stevie Johnson for leading the ship and helping guide a team that continues to show up and be part of the work happening across Pacific County.

Partnerships like these matter. When organizations stay connected, communicate, and continue working toward the same goal of supporting the community, it creates stronger networks of care for the people who need it most.

We are thankful for the continued collaboration and appreciate all you do!

๐Ÿ’ชThis weeks Community Partner Spotlight goes out to Geoff Kiernan and Northwest Justice Project.

Geoff has been an incredible support to so many members of our community through his work as an eviction attorney. He is someone who really takes the time to help people understand their rights, navigate difficult situations, and feel more empowered during some of the most stressful moments they may face.

Housing instability can be overwhelming, especially when people do not understand the legal processes or feel like they have nowhere to turn. Geoff consistently shows up with patience, knowledge, and a genuine commitment to helping people better understand landlord tenant rights and the systems impacting them.

We also want to recognize the work Northwest Justice Project is doing across Washington State. Their mission of combating injustice, strengthening communities, and protecting human dignity is reflected in the way they show up for individuals and families every single day. Through free legal assistance, they help address fundamental human needs like housing, family safety, income security, health care, and education, while also challenging the structural inequities that impact long term well being.

Access to information and advocacy can completely change the direction of someoneโ€™s life. The work Geoff and Northwest Justice Project are doing helps people feel seen, heard, supported, and less alone while navigating incredibly difficult situations.

We are very grateful for the compassion, education, and advocacy you continue to bring into our communities. The impact of this work reaches far beyond the courtroom. Thank you!!!

๐ŸŒŸ Employee Spotlight: Marissa Santos ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’™ Marissa Santos serves as an FCS/Choice Case Manager and at Destination Hope and Recovery. In just six months with DHR, she has already made a big impact by helping individuals navigate some of the most difficult moments in their lives with compassion, understanding, and hope.

๐Ÿค What inspired Marissa to join DHR was the opportunity to support people who are struggling and walk alongside them through challenging times. Her own lived experiences with homelessness and addiction allow her to connect deeply with unhoused clients and individuals battling addiction. She brings empathy, authenticity, and trust into every interaction, creating a safe space for clients to feel seen and supported.

โœจ The most rewarding part of Marissaโ€™s work is helping clients recognize their worth and importance. She believes her role makes a difference because she reminds people they belong and that hope is always possible, even during the hardest seasons of life.

๐Ÿก One client experience that continues to stay with Marissa involved building trust with a woman who was initially very difficult to reach. Through patience, consistency, and encouragement, Marissa was able to help her feel supported and hopeful enough to secure stable housing. Moments like these remind her why this work matters so deeply.

๐ŸŒฑ Marissa shares this message with those currently working toward recovery: โ€œYour past does not define you; your resilience does. What matters is how you rise after every fall.โ€

๐ŸŒŠ Outside of work, Marissa enjoys walks on the beach, hiking, and spending time with family on outings and adventures together. She also shares a fun fact that many people may not know about her, she completed one year of Taekwondo while in high school.

๐Ÿ“– A verse that guides Marissa through both life and work is Romans 8:18 (NIV): โ€œI consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.โ€ She believes this scripture is a reminder that hardships are temporary and that healing, transformation, and redemption are always possible.

We are grateful to have you at DHR Marissa! Thank you for all that you do!!!

This weeks Community Partner Spotlight goes out to Hoquiam McDonalds!

A lot of you may read that and be like, โ€œHuh?โ€ How are they a Community Partner with DHR?

Well, back in January 2024, they reached out to DHR wanting to find a way to help our community during the freezing cold weather and beyond. They shared that they saw the need and wanted to be part of the solution. Their team offered to donate 25 cheeseburgers every week to help provide hot meals to people in need throughout our community.

They thought of us after seeing the work being done in the community and wondered if we could partner and be the vessel in getting these burgers out to hungry folks. This worked out perfectly, as our team spends a lot of time doing outreach. We of course said yes, and it has been part of our weekly routine ever since.

What stood out most was their heart behind it. They did not do this because it was expected or because they work directly in this field. They did it because they care about the people in this community. They figured out how they could be part of the change, and they did just that.

Since connecting with them, they have also continued reaching out about other struggles and trends they are seeing from their part of town. They genuinely want to help in any way they can. This has included conversations around overdose increases and how they can best help keep both their customers and surrounding community members safe. They even keep naloxone on site in case a need ever arises.

That is what community looks like.

It is people, businesses, and organizations coming together, seeing a need, and choosing to do something about it. We are incredibly grateful to Hoquiam McDonalds for caring about this community and for being part of the change. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We truly appreciate all of you.

๐Ÿ‘‰This weeks Community Partner Shout out goes to Todd Broderius, NaphCare, and Cowlitz County Jail Behavioral Health.

We want to recognize the work happening inside the Cowlitz County Jail and the impact it has on our broader community. Todd, who works within the jail through NaphCare, is doing important work supporting individuals while they are in custody.

He works directly with individuals in custody to assess needs, provide support, and connect them with treatment and recovery resources. He consistently identifies individuals who would benefit from continued services and makes much needed, timely referrals to Destination Hope and Recovery.

Toddโ€™s collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to client centered outcomes have made him an essential bridge between the jail setting and community based treatment. Because of that connection, more individuals are able to transition successfully, stay engaged in services, and move forward in their recovery. This work changes the course of peopleโ€™s lives.

We also want to thank the Cowlitz County Jail for supporting this work and creating space for these connections to happen inside the jail. They are leading by example by making these connections a priority. They are showing what it looks like to build real pathways between custody and care, and proving that when systems work together, people have a better chance at stability and recovery. This kind of partnership is what makes real change possible. ๐Ÿ’ช

The impact of this work carries far beyond those walls, and it is helping people take real steps toward stability and a different path forward.

Thank you for all you do!!
