Fire District 2 is currently responding to reports of a wildfire on Middle Satsop Rd in the area of milepost 5. Please avoid the area and expect delays while our crews work on this incident.

Fire District 2 is currently assisting Montesano Fire Department on multiple Hazmat calls in the City of Montesano. Multiple areas have been evacuated, please follow all evacuation notices and avoid the area!

The Aberdeen Fire Department, with assistance from the Hoquiam Fire Department, Grays Harbor Fire District 2 and Grays Harbor Fire District 10, is currently on scene of a conveyor belt fire at the Sierra Pacific Mill.

Fire District 2 would like to share an update from Firefighter Casey Hogarty, who is currently deployed with Tender 211 in Eastern Washington supporting statewide wildfire suppression efforts.

Earlier in the deployment, Casey crossed Lake Roosevelt aboard the Gifford-Inchelium Ferry while traveling from the Bardeen Hill Fire Camp to the Modrite Fire Camp. Smoky conditions delayed air support that morning, and he was assigned alongside Cowlitz 6 Tender 62 to keep dual drop tanks supplied for the sprinkler system protecting the Modrite Incident Command Post base camp.

At the time of the update, the fire was estimated to be approximately 800 yards from camp near the tree line in the background. Fire crews had spent the previous evening constructing dozer line and making retardant drops to strengthen protection around the area.

Casey noted, “Things got pretty spicy on this fire last night.”

Please note this update was received after the fact and may be a few days behind current fire conditions.
