Here’s a great reminder of the roles and responsibilities of the community in public education.

Unfortunately, our state has MANY unfunded directives that our local board must ensure happen, without the appropriate funds to enact them. We need to advocate at our local and state level to improve our school and state funding model!!

Here’s some information from OSPI on school funding. When the State reduces their share of funding, local economies are left to pick up the tab.

Did you know the Aberdeen School District is part of a Seismic Safety Grant program from Washington State? What does that even mean?

It means we will have the opportunity to build new school buildings and upgrade existing structures to comply with seismic and tsunami safety standards. All without raising local taxes for a school bond.

There have been a lot of questions in FB land about school funding. This link to ESD 112 (ESDs provide support services to schools districts based on region). ESD 112 is the largest in the state and provides supplemental support to our district, as well as our ESD, 113.
