But don’t worry—we’re not all taking the day off! 😉 Our officers will be on duty and available as always to serve our community.

🌧️ WELL…LOOK AT THAT! The rain actually cooled things down! 🙌

We were about to say, “Finally! A break from the heat!”

Then we remembered it’s Labor Day weekend in North Carolina. 🇺🇸🔥

Enjoy this brief moment of happiness, folks. This may be the only relief we get before the heat comes back like it forgot something. 😂

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy that rain while it lasts! 🌧️🥵

🇺🇸 LABOR DAY WEEKEND 🇺🇸

As we approach the start of Labor Day weekend, we know three things are guaranteed:

🔥 Grills will be fired up.
🍔 Someone will eat enough food to need a nap.
🚔 And we’ll be out making sure everyone gets to enjoy the weekend safely.

So before you head out for the long weekend, here’s your reminder from your friends at APD:

✅ DO enjoy time with family and friends.
✅ DO fire up the grill.
✅ DO wear sunscreen.
✅ DO have a designated driver if you’re drinking.
✅ DO buckle up and slow down.
✅ DO make sure your pets are secure and comfortable during celebrations.

🚫 DON’T drink and drive. (Your car is not a party shuttle)
🚫 DON’T turn the neighborhood into your personal racetrack.
🚫 DON’T leave valuables in your vehicle—or your vehicle unlocked.
🚫 DON’T light something on fire and then tell us, “It got a little out of hand.”
🚫 DON’T make decisions that begin with, “Hey, watch this!”

Most importantly, DON’T give us a reason to meet you this weekend. 😎

Have fun. Be safe. Make good decisions. And remember: Monday is a holiday. Jail is not. 😂🇺🇸

Last year, one of our officers took the leap for Special Olympics North Carolina—and this year, we’re ready to do it again!

To participate, each officer must raise at least $1,000. So, we’re asking our amazing Aberdeen community to help us reach that goal!

So if you've ever looked at a really tall building and thought, “You know what? I should probably rappel down that,” … this is your opportunity. 😂

🚨 PSA ABOUT RED & BLUE LIGHTS 🚨

Just a friendly reminder from your local police department: It is UNLAWFUL for any person to install, activate, or operate a red or blue light in or on any vehicle in North Carolina — unless that vehicle is authorized for emergency, law enforcement, or first-responder use.

So yes… that includes those red and blue LED lights glowing underneath your car. 💡🚗

And while we're handing out free advice, if you do decide to ignore this law and draw some completely unnecessary attention from law enforcement, we strongly recommend that you DON'T do it while:

🚫 Driving on a suspended license
🚫 Having drugs in your vehicle
🚫 Illegally concealing a handgun that is not in plain view

Just remember, if you have successfully made your car look like a first responder vehicle with some pretty red or blue lighting, you have also made yourself our problem. 😂🚔
