Hamby Fire Rescue

Hamby Fire Rescue Hamby Volunteer Fire Dept Inc. For those of you in the HAMBY community, please be advised that we do not have an active phone number to our fire station.

Due to the fact that our station is not manned 24hrs a day, we have decided to cancel our landline. In the past we used our landline for receiving emergency calls, and taking control burn information. Now, all these calls are to be directed to your county sheriff's department in which you are located.
**If you need to notify us for an emergency or for a possible emergency, please call "911" immediately. If you have a non-emergency call or need to report a control burn, please notify your county Sheriff's department and they will notify their deputies and us. Thank you for your cooperation. Callahan County Sheriff: 325-854-1444
Jones County Sheriff: 325-823-4604
Shackelford County Sheriff: 325-762-2000

This wildfire season is proving to be a rough one for Texas. Our hearts and prayers are with everyone involved in the current Ross Fire situation in Palo Pinto County.

As we prepare for more of the same high temperatures across the state, we’d like to make sure everyone in our area knows who to contact in case of an emergency.

Because our department is entirely volunteer based, the phones are not manned. In the instance of an emergency, please dial 911.

For non-emergency issues please contact your county’s non-emergency number, located in the comments.

If you want to communicate with someone at the department about a non-emergent issue, we can be reached by email at [email protected] or through Facebook messenger.

We would also like to remind the community there is an active burn ban in place! Any outdoor welding/cutting must have a spotter with means to stop a fire and remove all flammables from the work area.

Thank you.

It’s been a busy week for our HVFD Volunteers! These men and women have worked tirelessly all week long to keep our community safe. The HVFD is made up entirely of volunteers and we are so grateful for their hard work and dedication through these hot summer months.

Interested in serving your community? All are welcome and we routinely provide training and education opportunities. Running the department requires behind the scenes efforts as well if fighting fires doesn’t interest you. We meet every Thursday at 7pm at the Hamby Volunteer Fire Department and hope to see you there.

Hamby VFD worked a windmill fire today. The fire started at 8 AM and wrapped up at 7:45 PM. Then we spent time getting all the equipment back in service, including changing flat tires, fueling vehicles, and watering up the trucks. The terrain was super rocky, and some of the firefighters fought Fire using hand tools. Everyone is super exhausted, but thankful that no structures were damaged. We greatly appreciate the assistance of the Texas forest service who brought out dozers and hot shots to help in the rough terrain.
