For The 7th Time, Senate Republicans Block Democrats’ Effort To Hold Trump Accountable For His Unauthorized Iran War

Washington D.C. – As Trump’s war with Iran passes a significant milestone, Senate Democrats remind Senate Republicans of their own past statements on the significance of 60 days of military action:

It has been 75 days since Donald Trump officially notified Congress of his disastrous war in Iran—a war he launched without declaration or authorization from Congress. Even Secretary Hegseth acknowledged this timeline in a hearing yesterday, saying “we are 74 days into this.”

Republicans have repeatedly acknowledged that once a conflict hits 60 days, Congress must authorize it. Well, that moment has arrived — and Republicans are already trying to weasel out of taking action. Today will be the first time that Republicans are voting on a War Powers Resolution after the 60-day threshold. And they refused to stand by their words.

SEVEN TIMES: Republicans have blocked War Powers Resolutions on Iran.

On March 4th, Republicans blocked Senator Kaine’s (D-VA) resolution 47-53.
On March 18th, Republicans blocked Senator Booker’s (D-NJ) resolution 47-53.
On March 24th, Republicans blocked Senator Murphy’s (D-CT) resolution 47-53.
On April 15th, Republicans blocked Senator Duckworth’s (D-IL) resolution 47-52.
On April 22nd, Republicans blocked Senator Baldwin’s (D-WI) resolution 46-51.
On April 30th, Republicans blocked Senator Schiff’s (D-CA) resolution 47-50.
Today, May 13th, Republicans blocked Senator Merkley’s (D-OR) resolution 49-50.

We had a wonderful Washington County Farm Tour with Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Katie Frazier and Charles Green Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services this past Thursday April 30th. About 60 Washington County residents, farmers, County and State officials participated in the tour with stops at Green Valley Farms, Tri-State Livestock Market, Wyndale Gardens, and Wilson Cattle Company. A good and full afternoon of learning and fun.

Our condolences to the family of C. Wayne Stevens, who passed away on Friday May 1, 2026 in Meadowview, VA. Wayne was a down to earth, committed public servant known for his dedication and service to his family, his community, and to youth groups, who genuinely cared about the people of his community, and the success of Washington County. As a 3-term member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors from the Monroe District, he was well respected for his preparation and active participation in decisions impacting the entire county. We will all miss the “Man in the Bibs” for the contributions he made to our county.
