Tomorrow, most of the children in our community will be returning to school. Remember, school bus safety is everyone’s responsibility. Slow down, stay alert, watch for children, give buses plenty of room, and always stop when a bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.

After making the ultimate sacrifice, Lt. Bateman’s remains were brought home to Maryland. Our members were honored to stand alongside our community and pay our respects as he made his final journey home.

Rest easy, Lieutenant. We will never forget your sacrifice. 🇺🇸🖤

🔥 Incident Response: At approximately 12:45am last night, Abingdon Fire Company - MD, with assistance from Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, responded to a tractor-trailer fire on Northbound at mile marker 78. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

It was a busy morning for Abingdon Fire Company - MD, with crews responding to three calls before 9am. 🚒

⏰ 4:20am — Crews responded to an automatic alarm in the 4600 block of Mercedes Drive. Upon investigation, firefighters discovered a water main break that had pushed water through the building’s wall.

⚡ 6:30am — Crews responded to a transformer fire at Willoughby Beach Road and Edgewood Road and remained on scene while BGE addressed the issue.

🔥 8:10am — Firefighters responded to Aldi for an electric pallet jack that was on fire.

While crews were handling calls, other Abingdon Fire Company volunteers were positioned along the I-95 overpasses to show their support for the 25th 9/11 Ride, as riders traveled north from Washington, D.C., to the World Trade Center. ❤️🚒🇺🇸

❤️ Member Monday: This past weekend, Abingdon Fire Company - MD held its annual picnic at Conrad's Seafood Restaurant - Abingdon, MD. This is a special time for our members to come together with their families as we show our appreciation for the countless volunteer hours and dedication they give to our community.

This year, Abingdon Fire Company’s Historian, Steven Muccioli, presented the first-ever McComas Family Traditions Award, recognizing immediate and extended family members who have been a part of Abingdon Fire Company’s membership throughout the years.

The McComas family has deep roots in Abingdon Fire Company dating back to its unofficial founding in 1924, and formal organization in 1925. We are proud to recognize the McComas family and the generations of service they represent. Their commitment is a true example of the family tradition and volunteer spirit that makes Abingdon Fire Company so special. ❤️🚒
