🎉 What an incredible evening at Back to School Bash Meets National Night Out! 📚🚔

We had a fabulous time celebrating with our community and are so grateful to everyone who came out and made the event such a success!

A HUGE thank you to the Washington County Virginia Sheriff's Office, EO, Virginia Highlands Festival, and Town of Abingdon, Virginia, along with our amazing donors, sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and everyone who helped bring this event to life.

Most importantly, thank you to our community for joining us! Your support and participation made the evening truly special.

UPDATE: 8/10/26 The Washington County Service Authority has rescheduled the Madison Street waterline project. Work will begin next Monday, August 17, 2026:

🚧 Traffic Advisory🚧

Starting Monday, August 10, 2026, Washington County Service Authority crews will begin replacing and upgrading water lines on Madison Street to improve the reliability of the Town's water system.

Work will include:
• Upgrading the existing 4-inch water line to a 6-inch water line between Hickman Street and Court Street SE, improving water flow to the fire hydrant at Court Street SE.
• Replacing an aging water line between Court Street SE and Kings Mountain Drive due to its deteriorating condition.

Access to homes will be maintained throughout construction. However, through traffic is encouraged to use alternate routes. Please use caution when traveling in the area and follow any posted signage or flaggers.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these important infrastructure improvements are completed.

📚 Welcome Back to School, Washington County! 🍎

The Abingdon Police Department is proud to serve the students, staff, and families of Abingdon High School and E.B. Stanley Middle School, where our School Resource Officers are on campus each day keeping our schools safe.

As school resumes tomorrow, expect increased traffic, school buses, pedestrians, and construction in school zones. Please slow down, stay alert, and leave a few minutes early to allow extra travel time. Your patience and caution help keep our students, families, and school staff safe.
