This sounds like an awesome program!

Teens entering Grade 6 and up are invited to join Miss Heidi and the Thursday night crew for an “out of the box” kind of craft night. Participants are asked to bring a pair of (clean) sneakers and we will provide the supplies to turn those ordinary kicks into something unique and amazing. Thanks to a very generous donation of gift cards by Starland Sportsplex & Fun Park we awarded over 30 prizes to our amazing readers! As I told the kids today, desperate times call for desperate measures and since I have to get over 100 books back in three days I decided to make a fool of myself to try to get some of the books returned. The kids heard me live and there was participatory clapping, you get my recorded dress rehearsal where I mess up the lyrics, but oh well, you get the general gist.

44 Fifth Graders participated in the Read Across America Reading Incentive Program! These 44 students read 192 books! Today everyone chose a prize book from the cart. (They made great choices) On Monday we will have the prize raffle with the Starland gift certificates and other giftcards.
