This past weekend, our members joined members of Glenside Fire Company to complete the PAFBC Water Rescue & Emergency Response (WRER) certification course.

Over the 16-hour course, members worked through the knowledge and skills needed to safely operate during water-related emergencies. The final day took the class to the Schuylkill River to put those skills into practice in a moving-water environment.

Training alongside our neighboring companies gives us an opportunity to not only build individual skills, but also strengthen the crucial teamwork and coordination for when we’re responding together.

A huge thank you to our instructors for sharing their knowledge and experience!

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. Today, on this milestone anniversary, we pause to remember the lives lost and the countless families impacted.

The official death toll is listed at 2,977, including 343 firefighters. The real number is hundreds higher, as many first responders, rescue workers, and volunteers have succumbed to illnesses and health problems that stemmed from exposure to the toxic dust and residue at the site of the towers.

As we reflect on this tragedy, we honor the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who showed incredible courage that day and in the weeks beyond. It is this model of selfless courage that drives us forward to be part of a stronger, more united country and community.
