I wanted to officially let everyone know that I have decided to run for re-election to the school committee.
Most of you know me, but for those that don’t, here’s some info. I was born and raised in Pawtucket RI. Attended URI (Go Rhody!) where I graduated with a math degree. Abington has been my home since 2006. I’ve been married to my wife, Jayne for 20 years. We have a 16 year old son who’s a sophomore at AHS and a 12 year old daughter who’s in Grade 7 at AMS. I will be running for election to my fourth term on school committee, where I’m the current chair.
I’m also active in multiple town organizations. I’m currently on the board of Abington Youth Basketball, where we have worked hard to make it something that all can enjoy & participate in, and Abington WAVES girls travel basketball. I also started Green Wave Sandlot baseball working with the Town Rec department. This program will enter its 6th season this summer. I truly enjoy giving back and volunteering in the community. The last couple years, I’ve had the opportunity to become involved in the great work that Abington CAM does for our schools. Most of this has come by being able to call boys & girls basketball games. I have had the opportunity to coach many teams over the years, and am currently fortunate to be coaching girls basketball & softball teams for the last 8 years.
To be completely honest, I wasn’t planning on running for re-election this year. However, given the difficult budget issues facing the schools, I felt strongly that I could lend my knowledge, experience, & calm demeanor that helped our district get through the pandemic.
I welcome any questions, so please feel free to reach out. Most of the time you can find me at the track, turf, basketball court, softball field or school related events.
Thank you to so many of you for all the support these past 9 years. I look forward to having the opportunity to serve the town again on school committee for a fourth term alongside my current committee members so that we can continue the work of what’s best for the kids & our schools.
Thank you,
Chris
