1 year ago today the Fall River Firefighters faced an unimaginable incident where they responded to a structure fire at the Gabriel House assisted living facility. If not for their heroic actions and aggressive rescue efforts, the outcome could have been exponentially worse.

Our thoughts are with the families involved as well as the men and women who responded to this incident that night.

One year ago tonight, Massachusetts' deadliest fire in decades claimed 10 residents' lives at the Gabriel House assisted living facility in . But for the heroic actions of Fall River firefighters, the tragedy would have been even greater. Our thoughts today are with the families who lost their loved ones and the firefighters and other first responders who made rescue after rescue that tragic night so that others might live.

Earlier today, your Abington Firefighters responded to the City of Brockton to provide station coverage during their 3rd alarm commercial structure fire. During their coverage assignment, Abington's Tower Ladder 1 responded to a master box activation for smoke in the building of a large apartment complex.

Whitman and Stoughton Engines also responded as part of the complement with no findings.

Abington Firefighters Local 2080 stand in solidarity with the Nurses at Brigham and Women's Hospital while they advocate for better working conditions and cost of living adjustments

Firefighters know what it means to put others first.

We stand with nurses at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as they fight for safe patient care, fair working conditions, and cost of living raises.

The PFFM’s 13,000 firefighters stand with you.

Abington Firefighters celebrated our annual Memorial Sunday Service yesterday surrounded by brother and sister firefighters, family, and local and state political leaders. We celebrated accomplishments and milestones from the previous year but we also recognized the loss we suffered.

During our ceremony, we recognized and celebrated the lives and service of Retired Administrative Assistant Patricia Gordon and Retired Firefighter Charlie Whitman Jr.

We also recognized 2 members that had retired after dedicating 12 years of service to the Town of Abington - Firefighters Adam Levine and Michael Kolodziej.

With their retirements, we were able to bring 2 new members into our family - Firefighters Jay Davies and Matthew DiSciullo

Local 2080 would also like to recognize our political affiliates who joined us in our day of recognition, for which we are grateful - Abington Town Manager Michael Maresco as well as the Board of Selectmen. We are also grateful for the presence of Congressman Stephen Lynch who visited and addressed our members.
