Looks like some significant precipitation coming into the area tonight. Choctaw County is currently under a tornado watch and flash flooding is expected later tonight. If severe weather approaches tonight, listen to your local weather service for information and instructions.

Stay clear of low lying areas in heavy rain and remember, don't drive through standing water.

Ackerman fire department responded to a truck fire in the county on Superbowl Sunday. There were no injuries and the fire was extinguished.

Ackerman Fire Department with tanker support from Weir, Fire Department, and ByWy Fire Department helped Southern Timber Products staff contain a blaze that started in a drying Kiln on Sunday morning.

Ackerman fire department assisted sturgis fire department yesterday with a water shuttle exercise. A water shuttle is when multiple trucks are hauling water from a water source wether it be a lake, fire hydrant, or elevated tank, to a place where there are no water sources and large volumes of water are needed. This training helps fire districts lower their fire rating and in turn the citizens in the district see a drop in their insurance rates.
