Swimming Lesson Updates:
Guards will begin reaching out soon to schedule private lessons if you have signed up. Any other private lessons will be scheduled for July or later has we have multiple to complete in June. Reminder that they are typically scheduled between 9:00 am-12:30 pm and 4:30-8:00 pm and you need to sign up at the pool, not reach out to guards individually.

We do have June & July Public Lessons available and there is financial assistance for kids taking public lessons.

Management and staff will be available again starting Thursday, June 4th to help get you signed up!

Found at Iowa Falls Walmart:

The goggles on the right half of the picture are made of tempered glass. Reminder, that we CANNOT have tempered glass goggles at our facility. Most often the lens will say “tempered glass” but it’s always wise to check labels on the boxes.

If tempered glass goggles were to break at our facility, it would result in potential closing for the season or a costly clean up. Please double check goggles before purchasing or bringing to the pool.

🏊‍♀️ Private Swimming Lessons Information 🏊‍♂️

Private lessons are a great option for swimmers who benefit from one-on-one instruction and individualized attention.

Program Details:
• Cost: $50 per child for 5 sessions (30–45 minutes each)
• We make every effort to schedule lessons on consecutive days when possible.
• Lessons are available for children ages 3 and up.

Registration & Payment:
• Payment is due at the time of registration.
• All private lesson fees are nonrefundable.
Instructor Requests:
• You may request a specific lifeguard/instructor.
• If scheduling conflicts arise, another qualified instructor may be assigned to ensure lessons can be completed in a timely manner.

Scheduling:
• Instructors will contact you directly to arrange lesson times that fit their availability.
• Private lessons cannot be scheduled during public swim lesson times.

Attendance & Rescheduling:
• Please keep rescheduling requests to an absolute minimum out of respect for our instructors' time.
• A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling.
• Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours notice will count as one completed session.
• No-shows will also count as one completed session.
- Weather cancellations will be made up, but lessons will only be cancelled due to weather if temperatures are below 60 degrees, there is lightning or thunder, or if there is HEAVY rain.

Additional Information:
• Private lessons are typically conducted one-on-one with an instructor.
• Two swimmers may participate together if approved by parents/guardians and the instructor.
• Private lessons do not guarantee exclusive use of the pool. Other swimmers, programs, or lessons may be taking place during your scheduled session.

One final post for this evening, these are the hours that the pool manager will be available to help you with pool passes or swimming lesson sign ups. Remember, sign up must be done in person, payment required at time of purchase and cash or check only.

Pricing and Pool Reminders:

**Passes and Lessons must be purchased at the pool, payment required at sign up. Cash or check only**

👥Family Passes are only for family members that can be claimed on your taxes; such as spouse or child dependents. Single & Family Passes do not cover swimming lessons or aerobics classes. City Employees receive a 50% discount on Family (for yourself, spouse & minor aged children only) and Single (for yourself) Passes only. Also, if you come in contact with our water, including "just putting my feet in" or are in swim attire, you must pay the $4 entry fee. Guardians are free to come watch without paying the entry fee, but must remain out of the water.

🛑 A full list of pool rules is posted in our entry way, attached you will see a reminder of our frequently violated rules. We have rules to keep are staff and patrons safe. We are a family friendly facility and want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy their time while here.

🩱👙🩳 Pool attire requirements are in place to help maintain a safe, clean, and family-friendly environment for all guests. Appropriate swimwear is designed for use in the water and helps reduce issues such as clogged filters, water contamination, and safety hazards caused by loose or heavy clothing. Proper swim attire also allows lifeguards to more easily identify swimmers in distress and ensures patrons can move safely and comfortably in and around the pool. These guidelines are intended to support hygiene, safety, equipment maintenance, and an enjoyable experience for everyone using the facility.

Swimming Lessons!!

According to the Red Cross, 86% of Americans say they can swim, but less than half of Americans can perform all of the 5 basic skills that could save their life in the water.
- Step or Jump into the water over your head
- Return to the surface and float or tread water for one minute
- Turn around in a full circle and find the exit
- Swim 25 yards without stopping
- Exit from the water, without using a ladder

🏊‍♀️Here at the Ackley Municipal Pool, along with a great community of supporters, we believe every child should have the opportunity to learn water safety skills and gain confidence in the water. If the cost of swimming lessons is a hardship for your family, financial assistance is available. Please don’t hesitate to reach out privately for more information about available support!

The moment you have all been waiting for has arrived!!

- Pool Passes & Swimming Lessons must be purchased at the pool, we accept cash or check only.

- Wading pool is being repaired, but may not be ready by June 4th. Contractors are actively working, but we're still waiting for an official opening date!

- Family passes are only for family members that can be claimed on your taxes; such as spouses or child dependents.

- Children under 8 years old require supervision from a responsible guardian, 15 years old or older, that actively watches them.

- Children between the ages of 8-13 years old require a signed permission slip to be at the pool without a guardian. They are also required to pass a swim test.

- Watch for times that the manager will be available before we open, to come in for passes or swimming lessons.

Please note, we will be closed this weekend as many of our guards will be attending their recertification class. We anticipate opening during the first week of June, following the completion of our guards' and manager's school responsibilities. Thank you for your patience.

Hey everyone, it's Amber. I am happy to announce that the city council officially approved my return as the pool manager tonight at their council meeting. With that being said, I will be posting all the need-to-know information soon.

In the meantime, we could still use a few lifeguards; if you or someone you know is interested, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. Can't wait for another great season!
