We are so grateful for our dedicated network of volunteers who go above and beyond every season to support our local farmers, increase food access, and mitigate food waste. We cannot wait to work with even more volunteers this season, and we encourage you to volunteer, support your community, and engage in activities that promote a healthy planet and healthy food for everyone! 🌻🌞🌱

Happy National Volunteer Month!

April is National Volunteer Month and we are extremely grateful to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic network of volunteers. Our volunteers show up during all types of weather conditions and are always willing to do the task at hand. From packing pounds of produce for our food access partners to climbing on ladders to reach apples during a gleaning trip, we cannot wait for this upcoming harvest season.

If you’re interested in volunteering, click the link in our bio or check at our website to learn more! (https://www.bostonareagleaners.org/volunteer.html)

We hope you can join us!

🚨To celebrate the groundbreaking of our new distribution center, and to honor six years of dedicated service, a retiring board member will match all donations up to $25,000 through Friday, 3/27 to help us fund this critical project. Can we count on your support?

πŸ“ˆ Escalating rates of food insecurity, coupled with increased demand from our food access partners, mean that we urgently need to expand the infrastructure at Stonefield Farm to substantially increase our capacity to source and distribute fresh produce.

🚧 We have secured partial funding for the new distribution center and construction is already underway (check out the progress video).

🀲 Now, we are seeking your support. With your gift matched dollar-for-dollar, you can build our capacity to do more, both literally and figuratively.

Visit our website to make a donation today.

The federally-funded Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program (LFPA) had a profound impact on both Massachusetts growers and families facing food insecurity in the years it operated. The program was cancelled by the Federal Administration in March of 2025, leaving a void. Select food system leaders responsible for implementing LFPA in Massachusetts have banded together to organize Local Food Purchasing Day! We are urging our State Legislators to fund a state LFPA program.

Come and JOIN US next Thursday, March 5th to show your support for this critical program. To learn more about the critical impacts of the LFPA program, read more on the MDAR website. Please RSVP at bit.ly/LFPAday26 (link in bio).

We are glad to be joining other food systems organizations collaborating on this effort, including: Amherst Survival Center, Berkshire Grown, Boston Area Gleaners, Coastal Foodshed, Growing Places, Massachusetts Food System Collaborative, Nourishing the North Shore, Regional Environmental Council (REC), Springfield Food Policy Council, The Salem Pantry, and World Farmers.
