Anne Brensley for Secretary of State, Mike Walsh for AG, Gary Grossi for Congress and Tim Shea signs are available too.

Thanks to everyone who came out last week for Voices from the Grassroots at the Riverside Rod and Gun Club in Hudson. On September 15 we packed the room from 6:30 to 9:00 to meet candidates, hear from the grassroots, and spend an evening with neighbors who want a stronger tomorrow. Each table had a wheatgrass centerpiece—living grass with the roots showing—so you could see what “grassroots” actually looks like. Grateful to hosts State Committeeman Dave Lunger (Middlesex and Worcester) and State Committeewomen Jeri Levasseur (2nd Essex and Middlesex) and Lorraine Rudd (Worcester and Middlesex), and to every candidate and volunteer who showed up. The official count doesn’t add up!

Anne Brensley for Secretary of State's campaign and grassroots supporters ran the write-in effort with one rule: make the margin too big to rig.

It worked. The Secretary of the Commonwealth credited her with 21,330 votes — four times the 5,000 needed to qualify. That is a win.

It is not an excuse for sloppy counting.

The campaign estimated about 39,000 write-ins. Officials attributed only 21,330 to Anne. That gap still matters — especially in towns that reported zero Brensley write-ins while recording a significant number of “other” write-ins not assigned to her, or to anyone else. This accounts for 7150 votes:

Holland
Lynn
Everett
Becket
Harvard
Southampton
Provincetown
Marion
Wakefield
Hopedale
Longmeadow
Richmond
Winthrop
West Stockbridge
Plainfield
Medfield
Sandisfield
Shutesbury

Voters in these places wrote names in. Those ballots exist. They just weren’t counted for the only statewide Republican write-in candidate for this office.

Winning by a wide enough margin does not erase sloppy work by cities and towns. If this office is going to certify results, it should publish a town-by-town accounting: how many write-ins were cast, how many were assigned to Anne Brensley, and how the rest were classified.

Election integrity does not stop once a candidate clears the threshold.

Acton seems to be doing the Jungle Primary a bit early. The ballot question for this is not for another 2 months, but why not try it out now?
