Infant Toddler Children's Center

Infant Toddler Children's Center Nonprofit early childhood education center with programs for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool.

ITC: Who We Are
The Infant Toddler Children's Center (ITC) was founded in 1981 as one of the first programs in the area designed specifically for infant and toddler care. Since then, this nonprofit organization has expanded to include programs for preschool and school-age children. At ITC, we respect children as unique individuals who are curious and competent learners. Our approach to curriculum

is influenced by Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, Howard Gardner, Magda Gerber, Frances and David Hawkins, and the Reggio Emilia Schools in Italy.

"Where does the sky go at night?"

That's the question one of our children asked a teacher during quiet rest time, simply because he felt safe enough to wonder out loud.

That's Reggio Emilia in action: we believe children are capable and curious, and our job is to listen. A question like this isn't a distraction from learning, it is learning.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

ITC was visited by School Resource Officer Monica Ricci and Detective Jon Stackhouse and K9 Zane today! The PSC and PSD children held a police car wash and Detective Stackhouse and Zane visited the Infant/Ones classroom, TII, TIII, and PSI playgrounds. All of the children were excited to see the officers and to meet Zane! Thanks again for the visit!

The best sensory experiences are the ones that are child-led in nature! As the children explored the bark of a rotting log in the woods, a child announced, "I'm going to cover it in mud!" She repeatedly dug her fingers into the mud and spread it onto the log. A few of her friends joined her.

Also, keep an eye out for your Homecoming postcard in the mail. It makes a great reminder on the fridge!

As the children in Toddler II entered the Big Woods one morning, a child made an observation. There's "snow mountain"—without snow! Snow mountain was a treasured space for the children in the winter, a place they still talk about months later. They ran from their wagons with excitement and climbed to the top, just like they did in the wintertime.
