Flood watch now in effect in addition to the high wind warning!!
Acushnet OEM — Flood Watch NOW IN EFFECT
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for southern Bristol County, including Acushnet, through late Monday night (until 2 AM Tuesday). Flooding from excessive rainfall is possible on rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying or flood-prone areas.
The High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 AM Sunday, and the Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for low-lying shore and tidal areas through 8 PM Sunday.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• Flood Watch through 2 AM Tuesday ET — storm-total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches expected; locally 5 to 7 inches possible
• Urban flooding and small river/stream flooding possible, especially in poor-drainage and flood-prone spots
• Periods of rain continue through Monday
• High Wind Warning through Sunday 8 AM ET — Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph; trees/power lines and outages still possible
• Coastal Flood Advisory through Sunday 8 PM ET — minor coastal flooding / splashover possible over high tides
Please stay weather-aware:
• Never drive through flooded roads — Turn Around, Don’t Drown
• Do not drive around barricades
• If you live in a flood-prone area, be ready to act if flooding develops or a Flood Warning is issued
• Keep outdoor furniture, trash bins, and other loose items secured
• Charge phones and devices; have flashlights ready
• Never touch downed power lines — call 911 if you see a hazard
