BLACK REPUBLICANS RALLY TO STATE HOUSE'S CONSERVATIVE AGENDA
Georgia’s conservative policies have produced a booming economy that has kept native talent at home and attracted new residents hungry for the opportunities that our state offers. This has brought growing diversity, which in turn has brought political competitiveness. This election year, as both parties aim to win the governorship and legislative majorities, Georgia’s fate will be determined for many years to come. We face a choice: Stay on a winning path with common sense Republican leadership or adopt the failed, high-tax, high-regulation policies of the Democrats. Putting Democrats in charge of Georgia will quickly erode the competitive advantages that have made our state one of opportunity for every Georgian for decades.
As Black Republicans, we feel compelled to act. Democrats have for too long taken minority voters for granted and attempted to divide Georgians with identity politics. We believe that no party has an eternal lock on any one demographic or any legislative district. Each of us chose to run for state House to advocate for policies that will expand prosperity, improve educational outcomes and create new high-paying jobs within our communities. Georgians of all races, ethnicities and creeds know that our state is heading in the right direction – many of today’s Georgians fled high-tax blue states to enjoy our state’s lower cost of living and high quality of life. Georgia’s inviting environment didn’t happen by accident, and those who have benefitted from it, as well as those who came here because of it, have a duty to preserve it for future generations. We do that by voting and running for office as Republicans.
Georgia Republicans are addressing families' kitchen table concerns. This year alone, they are cutting our taxes, giving rebates to taxpayers and lowering insurance costs. They are working to increase access to homeownership, while also passing serious reforms in recent years to protect the rights of renters. Georgia Republicans want to preserve the American Dream, and that requires excellent education. They invested hundreds of millions into needs-based scholarships so that every hardworking student can afford college, and they’ve overcome Democrat opposition to create more public charter schools and enacted a program that allows families to afford the best education fit for their children. Each of us is excited by Speaker Burns’ commitment to our children in his energetic push to transform literacy rates and support our earliest learners, because strong foundations lead to strong futures.
We are running because we love Georgia, because we want to keep winning for our neighbors and future generations, and because we believe in the conservative values of faith, freedom and opportunity. We are running because we’re true Republicans, and in Georgia, our Republican majority must be built with the support of Black Georgians across the state.
