Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management (CNEM) is committed to serving citizens who need emergency assistance while working to safeguard life and property from all hazards and threats, and to protect the culture and economy of the Chickasaw Nation. CNEM coordinates with local, state, tribal and federal disaster relief and public safety entities, both within and outside the Chickasaw Nation. Through

planning, preparation and a variety of resources, CNEM is ready to respond and protect citizens during times of natural disasters and other catastrophic, unexpected events. The CNEM service area includes the Chickasaw Nation’s treaty territory of 7,648 square miles and encompasses all or parts of 13 Oklahoma counties: Bryan, Carter, Coal, Garvin, Grady, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Pontotoc and Stephens. Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management (CNEM) has issued an emergency declaration prohibiting all burning within the Chickasaw Nation, including Bryan, Carter, Coal, Garvin, Grady, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Pontotoc and Stephens counties.

While this emergency declaration is in effect, it is unlawful to conduct unapproved outdoor burning, including activities such as campfires, bonfires, brush clearing and household trash burning.

Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management (CNEM) has added Pontotoc County and Johnston County to the emergency declaration prohibiting all burning within the Chickasaw Nation. Burn bans are currently in effect for Bryan, Carter, Coal, Garvin, Grady, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, McClain, Pontotoc and Stephens counties.
While this emergency declaration is in effect, it is unlawful to conduct unapproved outdoor burning, including activities such as campfires, bonfires, brush clearing and household trash burning.

Please join us in congratulating Sara Jones Billings, who received the Gary Robinson Achievement Award during the recent Inter-Tribal Emergency Management Coalition Summit in Tulsa.

The Gary Robinson Achievement Award recognizes individuals who exhibit outstanding leadership, dedication and significant contributions to advancing emergency preparedness, safety and resiliency within First American communities.

This shoutout recognizes CNEM K-9 handler Laken Dempsey and his K-9 partner, Ransom.

Laken and Ransom recently earned their NASAR SARTECH II Live Find certification. This certification evaluates a dog's ability to locate a stationary subject within 90 minutes across 60-80 acres. During testing on a 60-acre parcel, Laken and Ransom located their search subject in approximately 12 minutes.

When a burn ban is in effect it is unlawful to conduct unapproved outdoor burning, including campfires, bonfires, fireworks, brush clearing and household trash burning.
Even if your location is not included in a burn ban be mindful of your surroundings and use extreme caution, especially during this time of elevated fire weather conditions.
