| Red Dot Sight (RDS) Transition

📅 Dec. 10–11, 2026
📍 CLEET Campus | Ada, Oklahoma

This course addresses common challenges officers may encounter when transitioning to a red dot sight-equipped pistol. Students will learn techniques specific to RDS-equipped pistols, including malfunction and immediate-action drills.

The course begins with classroom instruction covering RDS fundamentals, followed by range drills and a variety of courses of fire.

Required equipment:

* RDS-equipped pistol with functional iron sights
* Three double-stack magazines or five single-stack magazines
* Duty rig with a duty-style holster designed for the specific pistol and RDS combination
* 600 rounds of ammunition—no steel-core ammunition
* Eye and ear protection
* Cleaning kit
* Adjustment tools provided with the RDS
* Appropriate range attire
* Note-taking materials

The Southwest Area Tactical Team, a specialized multi-jurisdictional unit consisting of officers from Bixby, Glenpool, Jenks, Sand Springs and Sapulpa, recently welcomed CLEET instructors to Glenpool for two days of advanced tactical training.

CLEET Lead Fi****ms and Tactics Instructor Clay Anderson led the Advanced Law Enforcement Tactics (A.L.E.T.) course alongside CLEET instructors James Nail and David Stepp and adjunct instructors Capt. Adam Boyette of the City of Ada, Oklahoma Police Department, Officer Garret Melsek of the Del City Police Department and Deputy Devon Spencer of the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Department.

The intensive two-day course focused on Search and Arrest Team procedures and Crisis Entry Team procedures, providing officers with advanced, hands-on training designed for the demands of tactical operations.

Anderson and the CLEET instructional team welcome every opportunity to work alongside and train law enforcement officers across Oklahoma.

Legal Training at CLEET Basic Academy

Our cadets receive both physical training and classroom instruction to build well-rounded officers. The 56-hour Law Block covers 17 critical modules, including Use of Force, Search Warrants and Search Warrant Exceptions, Laws of Arrest, and Concepts of Probable Cause. Strong officers need both skill and knowledge.
