Adair Fire sincerely thanks Corvallis Fire and CFD Lieutenant Gabe Gurule for helping us with drill last night. We’ve upgraded our Engine’s attack lines to meet current NFPA water flow requirements of at least 150 gallons per minute per attack line. This is a 50% increase over our old hose/nozzle set-up. LT Gurule shared tips, techniques, and some science to help our firefighters safely manage the challenges and significant benefits of the increased water flow.

Adair Fire was honored to visit Corvallis Montessori School yesterday. We value our district’s family connections to CMS and it was a pleasure to share what we do and talk about fire safety with everyone. Thank you for the invitation!

The Adair Rural Fire Protection District is excited to announce we’ve been awarded a $35,000 Wildfire Seasonal Upstaffing Grant from the Oregon State Fire Marshal.

The grant allows Adair Fire to boost staffing during the peak fire season. Adair relies heavily on volunteers who respond to 911 calls from their homes. This funding allows us to have firefighters in our station and ready for rapid response to not just wildfires, but to all emergencies in our community. Early wildfire response has proven to play a critical role in stopping small fires before they become larger incidents. Time is of the essence in every type of emergency.

We are proud to be part of a statewide effort focused on readiness to keep Oregon safe. We thank the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office for helping to protect our local community.

Worth the Wait! Adair Fire received five sets of new turnouts thanks to the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. We were awarded a generous $9,606.25 matching grant last November to replace some aging gear. The new coats and pants finally arrived. The department regularly inspects and repairs all our gear to make it last as long as possible. But it still wears out and can become uneconomical to repair. This grant allows us to keep our volunteers properly fitted in quality gear to do their jobs safely.

The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund awards charitable organizations and local governments with grants for a variety of purposes. Adair Fire has been very fortunate to receive seven previous public safety grants over the lifetime of the program. A grant for extrication equipment, portable radios, AEDs, remote front mount bumper nozzles for two of our brush trucks, pagers, and two separate grants for firefighter turnouts.

All our district’s citizens, everyone who passes through, and all our neighboring departments benefit from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution fund’s generosity.

It’s already time to be concerned about wildfire. Be careful with backyard burning and be responsible enjoying all the outdoor recreation areas our great state has to offer. Within Adair’s district, always check our website for daily restrictions before you backyard burn. Thank you.

2026 is already off to a fast start. 35 fires have already burned 124 acres compared to just 7 fires and 10 acres at this time in 2025. Low snow pack and record breaking temperatures are setting the stage for a tough fire season. Do your part to prevent the next human-caused wildfire. , , , , .

Climb, Conquer, Cure. Six Adair firefighters participated in the 2026 Blood Cancer United LSS stair climb in Seattle this weekend. We challenged ourselves climbing up 69 floors in full turnout gear breathing through our air packs. We want to thank each and every person who helped our team raise $8,414.20 to help support those in need and find cure. It’s always an honor to represent our little department at this big event.

Adair Fire congratulates Chris McElfresh, Bob Aman and Jeremy Howes on their recent promotions to the rank of Engineer.

In the fire service, an Engineer is a specialized firefighter responsible for driving, pumping, and operating fire apparatus. They are crucial for scene safety, managing water supply/pressure, positioning trucks, and running all the tools. Engineers must have technical, operational, and leadership skills.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our community.

At 9:40pm on Monday 02/09 Adair Fire responded to a structure fire on Blake Ave. Upon arrival, crews found approximately a 40 x 40 barn with interior fire conditions. Firefighters extinguished the fire protecting multiple nearby exposures. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or the animals living in the barn. The cause is under investigation.

Adair Fire acknowledges swift action by the homeowners, the Corvallis Rural Fire District, and Corvallis Fire to limit the damage. We also thank the Albany Fire Department, and Polk County Fire District No.1, for their availability and assistance as needed on events like this through our aide agreements.
