The Rome Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating Alana Phillips. There is concern for her safety, and officers are actively working to locate her.

Alana is described as:
• Approximately 5’5”
• Approximately 140 pounds
• Brown hair and blue eyes
• Wears glasses
• Last seen wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans

🚙 VEHICLE: Alana may be traveling in a 2004 burgundy Chevrolet Tahoe with Georgia tag SHP 5309. (Photos below.)

📍 LAST KNOWN AREA: The vehicle was last seen around 8:01 a.m. today, August 10, in the Shannon, Georgia area.

Anyone who sees Alana or the vehicle, or who has information that could help officers locate her, is asked to contact the Rome Police Department immediately at 911.

🚔 Adairsville Police Department — In Memoriam

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a true pioneer of our department — Chief Ruth Hammonds Hardman, who went home peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 70.

Chief Hardman began right here with us as a dispatcher and rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police — one of the first women in the state of Georgia to hold that title. Her trailblazing legacy will always have a place of honor within these walls.

Please join us in keeping her husband Roger, her daughter Jessica, her grandchildren, and her entire family in your thoughts and prayers.

🕊️ Rest easy, Chief. Your watch was carried out with honor.

GBI News Release:

Adairsville, GA (April 23, 2026) - At the request of the Adairsville Police Department, GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Adairsville, GA. Saeed Ahmed Reed, age 26, of Clayton County, GA, was shot and killed in the incident. One officer was shot and injured.

Preliminary information indicates that at about 1:15 a.m. on April 23, 2026, an Adairsville Police Department officer made a traffic stop on an SUV for speeding. The driver, later identified as Reed, pulled into the entrance of the Mapco Gas Station on Joe Frank Harris Pkwy. Reed exited the SUV from the passenger side and walked around the SUV to the driver's side. Reed got back into the driver's seat and drove through the parking lot toward the opposite entrance of the station. The officer stopped the SUV, and Reed exited the SUV again and walked away from the officer. The officer deployed a Taser, but the Taser was ineffective. Reed then pulled a gun from his waistband and shot at the officer, hitting the officer once in the vest. The officer returned fire, shooting Reed multiple times.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was treated and released.

Reed was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

There were three other adults and one child in the SUV during the incident. None of the passengers were injured.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office for review.

🚨🚨🚨 Press Release 🚨🚨🚨

At about 0115 hours this morning (04-23-2026) a wanted suspect with numerous felonies compelled an Adairsville Police Officer to use deadly force to defend himself. The suspect shot the Police Officer in the chest, and then attempted two more times to shoot the Officer. The Police Officer was forced to return fire to protect himself and shot the suspect numerous times. The Officer survived, was treated and released from the hospital. The violent suspect died at the hospital.

The incident and crime scene was immediately secured and turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The Adairsville Police Department will not be able to provide any additional details until the G.B.I. has concluded its investigation in it's entirety.

We are very thankful our Officer survived and made it home to his wife and family.
