Although the recent snow flurries and temperature drops don't reflect it - spring is here and as such, the Alerts have gotten our firefighter's memorial at Bellevue Cemetery ready by putting up our flags and lights so they can honor our deceased members day and night.

The Alert’s 150th Anniversary Year Book Sponsorship

This year, the Adams Alert Hose Company proudly marks its 150th anniversary—a century and a half of dedication to protecting our community.
To honor this milestone, we’re creating a 150th Anniversary Yearbook and inviting businesses, families, friends, and community members to show their support by placing an advertisement.

Sponsorships range from $25 to $500, with options that include yearbook ads, social media promotion, and even a parade banner.

This year’s celebrations will also feature a firefighter memorial ceremony, a 100th anniversary time capsule reveal, our Annual Ball, fireworks, and a grand parade with departments and organizations from across New England and New York

Your support helps us celebrate our history while continuing to serve our town.

Members of the Alert Hose Company spent last Saturday morning checking on and shoveling out hydrants around town. We were happy to see many residents had beat us there and had cleared out their neighborhood’s hydrant. However that was not always the case so we did have work to do on dozens of them. With winter still in full force, please don’t forget to keep the hydrants clear for everyone’s safety. Thank you.

Happy birthday Ben, the "Father of the American Fire Service", born in Boston and Massachusetts' own renaissance man. Besides the many things he is more famously remembered for, Ben founded America's first volunteer fire company, the Union Fire Company, in Philadelphia in 1736, establishing the foundation for modern fire services by organizing citizens to protect each other and their property. Firefighters of today too are renaissance men, needing to excel in numerous fields of expertise to meet today's firefighting tasks while providing practical and needed contributions to our society. Step up and be a Ben today...volunteer!

Happy Birthday Ben Franklin! He was born on this date 320 years ago in Massachusetts (naturally), and among many other accomplishments co-founded the Union Fire Company -- Philadelphia's first volunteer fire department. He also used his newspaper to promote fire safety and prevention, another practice that lives on today. Read more: https://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/17059
