Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Summer Reading Program! ☀️

What an amazing summer filled with fun, learning, and hours upon hours of reading!
I am so proud of all our readers for keeping their minds active and diving into so many great stories throughout the summer.

Today we wrapped up the program by drawing for our grand prizes—congratulations to all of our winners!

A huge thank you to Suzy’s Sweets for the incredible treats! The treasure maps, dinosaur footprints, and Egyptian eye cookies were the perfect way to celebrate our summer adventures. We also enjoyed some outdoor fun with sidewalk chalk and snow cones from Cone Zone to finish the day. 🍧

While Summer Reading Program has come to an end, the library is still open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so keep those books checked out and keep reading!

Thank you for making this summer so special. We loved spending it with all of you and can’t wait to see you around the library! ❤️📚

Join us next Tuesday for our final Summer Reading Program of the summer! 🎉📚

We'll be celebrating with prizes, special treats, and lots of fun as we wrap up an amazing summer of reading together! Don't forget—all reading raffle tickets are due by 10:00 a.m., and we'll draw for our grand prizes at 10:00am!

If you've loved reading all summer long, don't worry—the fun doesn't have to stop! The library will continue to be open Tuesdays from 8:30–11:30 a.m. and Saturdays from 9:00–11:00 a.m. throughout the summer. While our guided Summer Reading Program will end after next Tuesday, we'd love to keep seeing you at the library!

We had another great morning at Summer Reading! ☠️🏴‍☠️💰

Today we set sail on a pirate adventure and learned all about pirate treasure! Did you know that very few pirates actually buried their treasure? Most of that idea came from books and stories! Pirates were usually afraid someone else would find their loot, so they spent it as quickly as they could. Who knew?!

After learning all about pirate treasure, everyone got to create their own treasure boxes to take home!

Join us next week for our final Summer Reading Program day! We'll have prizes, special treats from Suzy's Sweets, and snow cones available for purchase from Cone Zone. It's going to be a fun way to wrap up another great summer of reading!

It was another great morning at the Library, unearthing amazing stories and discovering a little more about the past!

Today we explored Ancient Egypt and learned about the treasures that have been found in tombs thousands of years old. We read some fun mummy stories, talked about hieroglyphics, and even created our own messages on “golden” tablets!

Who knows… maybe someday a historian will uncover one of their tablets and spend years trying to decode what it says! 🤣🏺✨📜

What an awesome morning at the Library! 📚🦴💎

Today’s theme was fossils and gemstones! We read about paleontologists and learned about fossils found right here in Nebraska. Did you know Nebraska was once covered by water? Because of that, many of the fossils found in our area are actually from aquatic animals rather than dinosaurs! We also learned about prehistoric horses, camels, and rhinos that once roamed the region.

We explored gemstones that can be found around here too. Keep your eyes open—you might even discover some in your own backyard! 💎

For our craft, kiddos created their own fossil imprints in clay. We may have some future paleontologists in our midst! 🦕🔍

Don't forget to keep reading and tracking your progress to earn those raffle tickets! We can't wait to see everyone again next Tuesday for another fun-filled morning at the library.

What a great start to our Summer Reading Program! 📚☀️

Between kids and adults, we had nearly 85 people join us this morning! What a fun way to kick off the summer!

Thank you all for your patience and grace when our internet decided to take an unexpected break, making book checkouts and book fair purchases a little more challenging. 🤣 We powered through and got it done!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to those who supported the Scholastic Book Fair. Your purchases help give back to the Freeman Library, and we truly appreciate your support!

Looking for something to keep your students active in reading over the summer? ☀️📚

Join the Freeman Community Library every Tuesday in June from 9:30–11:00 AM for story time, crafts, activities, and lots of summer fun! Participants can earn prizes and tickets to be entered into bigger prize raffles! 🎉

All ages — from infants to adults — are encouraged to participate!

We’ll also kick things off with a Book Fair on June 2nd from 8:30–11:30 AM! Come stock up on some great summer reads! ❤️
