Multi-County Investigation Leads to Ex*****on of 12 Search Warrants and Seizure of More Than 1,500 Kratom Products

Investigators with 25th Judicial District Attorney Office, in coordination with law enforcement agencies across North Alabama, including Hamilton Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Winston County Sheriff’s Office, Double Springs Police Department, Lynn Police Department, Addison Police Department, Jasper Police Department, Fayette County Sheriffs Office, Berry Police Department, Alabama Drug Task Force Region E, ALEA narcotics and the ABC board executed 12 search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation involving the sale and distribution of products containing kratom.

The search warrants were executed at locations across Marion, Winston, Fayette, Walker, Jefferson, St. Clair, Etowah, and Calhoun Counties.

As a result of today’s enforcement operation, investigators seized a total of 1,528 bottles and containers containing kratom products, along with additional suspected kratom-related products and evidence. The seized items included a variety of commercially packaged products, including liquid shots, capsules, powders, and other kratom products.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges or enforcement actions may be forthcoming as investigators continue to analyze the evidence collected during today’s operation.

This multi-county operation demonstrates the commitment of participating law enforcement agencies to working collaboratively across jurisdictional boundaries to investigate the distribution of substances that pose a risk to the health and safety of the communities they serve.

Additional information and arrest will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation allows.

For everyone asking this is the new parade route. Line up starts at 9 am at the gym parking lot. Fire trucks and any big vehicles will line up going down the road going around behind the gym. Any vehicles that would like can go around to back of field house area and line behind fire trucks. Parade will start at 10 am going north on 41 and turn left onto Hunter road. From there we will follow the arrows and go behind the school and coming back in front of Hyatts and back onto 41 ending back at the gym parking lot. All of the areas maker here with a line will be blocked off for the entire parade. Everyone please keep in mind all of the pedestrians and especially the small children. Also if you have a child that plans on riding a 4 wheeler or motorcycle type vehicle everyone under 16 will have to have a helmet. Looking forward to seeing everyone celebrating the nation's 250th birthday.

The Addison Police Department would like to thank all of the local, state and federal agencies and some not so local agencies, the Addison fire department and all the other departments that assisted today with the situation at Addison School. Earlier this morning there was a bomb threat called in to the school. With the quick action from all departments and especially the school staff, all students were evacuated to a secure location in a very short time. After an extensive search the all clear was given and the school came off of lock down. I hope that nothing like this ever happens again but but we couldn't have ask for it to go any smoother.

I would also like to think all the parents for understanding that the schools and also us have procedures in place to ensure the safety of the children first and foremost.

Again thanks to everyone for helping with this very intense and nerve-wracking experience today.
