πŸš’ HYDRANT BONNET COLOR PROGRAM πŸš’

The Arley Fire Department has officially begun color coding the bonnets on fire hydrants throughout our community.
Over the next five years, hydrant flow testing will be conducted across our response area. As each hydrant is tested, the bonnet (top portion of the hydrant) will be painted a specific color based on the amount of water flow the hydrant is capable of providing. This system helps firefighters quickly identify available water supply during emergencies.

Here is what the colors mean:
πŸ”΄ Red – Less than 500 GPM
🟠 Orange – 500 to 999 GPM
🟒 Green – 1,000 to 1,499 GPM
πŸ”΅ Blue – 1,500 GPM or greater
πŸ’§ GPM = Gallons Per Minute

This color coding system is recognized across the fire service and allows firefighters to make rapid decisions during fire operations when every second counts.

As you begin seeing hydrants with different colored bonnets around the community, you’ll know those hydrants have been tested and classified according to their water flow capabilities.
We also ask the public to help us keep hydrants accessible by:
βœ… Not parking in front of hydrants
βœ… Keeping grass and brush cleared away
βœ… Reporting damaged or leaking hydrants

Thank you for supporting the efforts of the Arley Fire Department as we continue working to improve fire protection for our community. πŸš’

πŸ”₯ STATEWIDE FIRE ALERT – PLEASE READ & SHARE πŸ”₯
The Arley Fire Department has received an important notice from the Alabama Forestry Commission regarding dangerous wildfire conditions across the state.

Due to worsening drought conditions, low humidity, and lack of measurable rainfall, a Statewide Fire Alert has been issued effective immediately.

🚨 Current Situation:
β€’ Over the past weekend: 50 wildfires burned more than 2,300 acres
β€’ In the last 30 days: 387 wildfires burned approximately 15,850 acres statewide
β€’ Fires are spreading rapidly and becoming increasingly difficult to control

⚠️ What This Means:
β€’ Outdoor burning is strongly restricted
β€’ Permits are limited to Certified Prescribed Burn Managers only
β€’ Burning without a permit may result in criminal charges (Class B misdemeanor)

πŸ”₯ These extremely dry conditions allow fires to ignite easily, spread quickly, and threaten lives, property, and our firefighters.

πŸ›‘ PLEASE AVOID ANY OUTDOOR BURNING
Help us protect our community and first responders by taking this alert seriously.
πŸ“ž To report a wildfire: (800) 392-5679
🌐 More info: www.forestry.alabama.gov
We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.
