We are proud to support this work! All children should have environments they can thrive in!

Children don’t get expelled because they’re “bad.” They get pushed out because their needs aren’t understood.

At YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, our Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program helps teachers respond with empathy, not punishment, and it’s working.

100% of the programs we partner with say this support:
✔ Prevents suspension and expulsion
✔ Strengthens teacher wellness
✔ Improves outcomes for children

This is what happens when communities invest in mental health early.

Thank you to our partners at Addison Township, Bloomingdale Township, Lisle Township, and Naperville Township for helping make this work possible.

On Friday, the Addison Township Mental Health Board hosted a Youth Mental Health First Aid training, with 7 participants successfully completing the program.

This important training helps adults recognize the signs of mental health challenges in youth, respond appropriately, and connect young people with support and resources.

We would like to thank KidsMatter for helping coordinate the training and supporting this effort to strengthen mental health awareness in our community.

The Addison Township Mental Health Board was proud to fully fund this training as part of our continued commitment to expanding access to mental health education and prevention resources throughout Addison Township. 💚

Partner Spotlight: YWCA Early Childhood Mental Health Program

Recently, the Addison Township Mental Health Board visited the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago to learn more about their Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program in Addison Township.

This program, currently serving a local KinderCare site, takes a preventative approach—supporting teachers and caregivers with tools and strategies grounded in social-emotional learning. By strengthening the adults in the classroom, the program helps create healthier environments where children can thrive.

Through classroom observations, staff consultation, and targeted training, educators are equipped with trauma-informed and inclusive practices that benefit all children. The program also offers individualized support and connects families to additional resources when needed.

We’re proud to support initiatives like this that invest in long-term mental wellness for our youngest residents.
