Beginning on Monday, April 4, Spectrum Drive will be closed from Arapaho Road to McEntire Place while DART’s Silver Line contractor rebuilds the at-grade double tracks and concrete pavement approaches for the Spectrum Drive rail crossing.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but by completely closing the road, the work can be done much faster than the Addison Road crossing. You can expect an increase in construction noise around the operations until the road reopens in mid-May.

It's that time of year again! The Parks and Recreation Department needs your help to deter egrets and herons from forming nesting colonies (rookeries) in Addison.

Here is a quick reminder of some simple things you can do:

1. Thin Out Your Interior Branches ( 75% density or less): Egrets and herons like dense tree canopies. If possible, prune trees so they do not touch other trees.

2. Familiarize yourself with what egret and herons that are native to our area look like.

3. Make Some noise: Noise is an effective tool. We suggest clapping two pieces of wood together to make rapid sharp cracking sounds.

4. Let Us Know: If an egret or heron is beginning to build a nest, in Parks and Recreation Department can help. Please notify us if you think you have seen an egret or heron beginning to build a nest or report sightings on Addison's FixIT app.

For more information, please visit the link below. Thank you for your help controlling the egrets and herons in Addison.

The Addison Economic Development team recently hosted a meet and greet at the One Hanover Park office building. Staff from Economic Development and Tourism and Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce met with Property Manager Amber Stugart before they greeted employees as they arrived at work, providing them with a light breakfast and thanking them for working in Addison.

One Hanover Park is home to companies and organizations such as Abilene Christian University, FIS, and Happy State Bank, just to name a few.

This award-winning event is hosted at a different office building in Addison each month. It is part of the department’s business retention and expansion efforts to demonstrate the Town’s appreciation for people who work in Addison and to the companies that call Addison home.

A new outdoor fitness center is headed to Vitruvian Park. On September 14, 2021, the City Council approved the purchase of outdoor fitness court equipment and a resolution confirming acceptance of a $25,000 grant from the 2021 National Fitness Campaign Grant Program to go towards the purchase.

In response to concerns voiced by residents, Parks and Recreation shared two additional possible locations at the March 8 Council meeting, one at Les Lacs Park adjacent to the volleyball court and another one at Vitruvian Park. Under the direction of Council, staff will proceed with the Vitruvian Park location.

Fogo de Chão in Addison is OPEN today for lunch and dinner!
Here is the thing... I love Addison so much, this is more of a home to me than my ACTUAL home. However, the people here are complete morons. There are wrecks every 5 minutes and you wanna act like you are a traffic control officer when you see pedestrians OBEYING cross-walk signals? I went to drop my dog off at her appointment and was nearly ran over TWICE in a 10 minute walk. The DMV must just give out drivers licenses to anyone that walks in without any testing what-so-ever. If you see me and my dog walking across the street, guess what? I dont need you to stop and flag me like we need to hurry up, at that point, IM GONNA STAND THERE and look at you like the idiot you are. If the light is red, that means STOP. Not, "stop if you feel like it and then act like a moron towards the person who actually knows wtf they are doing." If you try to rev your vehicle up at someone while they are walking in front of you, you deserve your teeth knocked out, period. Of course, at that point, you'll cry and call the cops talking about how oppressed and offended you are. There is a rare breed of people here that their parents either didnt love them as a child, or they have never taken a good beating... Either way, I'm the one you need to try, because I dont care who sees it. I'll teach you a lesson you will not soon forget :)

I am Robert “Bobby” Berger; I am a Certified Music Practitioner; certified to perform therapeutic music to patients at the bedside. I can also perform for other venues using my skills to heal. I have performed live therapeutic music sessions in various venues such as; hospital, skilled nursing facility, day habilitation, retirement home, and online. I have an expansive selection to perform to meet the needs. Therapeutic music a valued medium reaching people in crisis. Live therapeutic music is non-invasive and can heal without the danger of invasive medicine. Live Therapeutic Music gives the patient in the moment experience that is lacking confined to a bed or wheelchair for example. Live therapeutic Music is tailored to the needs of the patient either their moods or level of pain. At this time with concerns of COVID-19 I am able to perform Virtual Live Therapeutic Music through the internet either with iPads or other computer equipment. Working as a CMP, there are many attributes I love being involved with. There are many skills acquired throughout my years that apply. I enjoy sharing my love of music. I get satisfaction reaching others and the results helping them get through their struggles communicating through my music. Stories of my experience: I was in the hospital going to my next patient; in the elevator, a man commented it was nice I was performing for people. I asked him if he wanted me to perform for who he was visiting where he commented his wife is in a coma. I said I would be happy to play for her and can be therapeutic. We went to her room and his daughters were there. He asked me if I knew the song 500 Miles; I told him I don’t remember all the words and I didn’t have it on file; we all sang with such beautiful harmony. His wife although in a coma, displayed very positive readings on the monitor showing of many things her blood pressure went way down. The next time I visited, he said before I originally came, they were approached by the nurses and the doctor to consider removing life support. Following my original visit, the decided to keep her on life support. Finishing the day on Neuro ICU and closing out at the nurses station, one nurse told me a patient’s daughter was really stressing out and was having difficulty accepting the staff couldn’t do enough. The daughter saw me across the hall and asked if I could play for her mother; I accepted happily. I played appropriate music for the patient which was also pleasant for her daughter. Following a few songs and instrumentals, her daughter asked me if I knew and Jewish songs. I replied I did and played some standards. She was so elated and relaxed; her mother (actually the patient) relaxed also. My Contact: 972-800-1184 or [email protected]

🏃🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️Virtual 5K - We are having a virtual 5k on October 31 benefiting the rescue of children and are looking for race participants (run or walk or don’t, you’ll still be helping and getting your t-shirt for registering). Operation Underground Railroad was founded in December 2013 by Tim Ballard. Since then, there have been over 4,000 children rescued (4,000th in August 2020) from s*x trafficking all around the world. S*x trafficking happens in every country. O.U.R. has gathered the world's experts in extraction operations and in anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery. O.U.R. needs funds to plan and execute these missions and to provide aftercare for the children that are rescued.

Thanks Oncor!
I can’t believe The Town of Addison let Oncor ruin our beautiful trail. After watching the Council meetings where this was discussed I believe we were LIED to. This is unacceptable and why wasn’t there any one with authority from Addison to stop the butchers from working. This was not a day to be away from work!
