CultureMap Dallas is reporting that OAK’D BBQ will be opening its Addison location at the end of February. They are taking over the former Chamberlain's Fish Market on Belt Line Road. You can enjoy your Wagyu brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeno-cheese sausages from either of the two patios which will make it the perfect location to be this spring.

Mayor Joe Chow and Environmental Health Manager Sandra Long stopped by Metrocrest Services yesterday to drop off a check for more than $4,100. These funds came from recycling donations collected during the Town's 2022 sustainability events. The next event is scheduled for April 29.
A New Year, a New City Manager. Mayor Chow stopped by Town Hall this morning to welcome Addison City Manager David Gaines on his first day in the office. We are planning a Meet and Greet on January 25 at the Athletic Club so stay tuned for more details!

Addison's Special Events Department won 15 awards from the International Festivals & Events Association this year as part of the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Competition. Congrats to the team who is responsible for planning Taste Addison, Kaboom Town!, and Oktoberfest, among others!

The National Weather Service is reporting that a strong cold front arrives on Thursday, bringing the coldest temperatures of the season! Strong winds will accompany the front, and peak wind gusts near or above 45 MPH cannot be ruled out. Dangerous wind chills in the teens to below zero are expected beginning Thursday and temperatures will remain below freezing until Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Now is a good time to start planning how to protect the 5 P's of cold weather preparedness.
Asian Mint is officially open in Prestonwood Place! Head on over to grab some of their Thai classics like Pad Thai, fried rice, and a variety of noodle, stir fry, and curry dishes. The coconut soup is perfect as the cool temperatures make their way in.
Lost in Wisconsin, the blue sculpture at the southeast corner of Beltway Road and Proton Drive, is getting a facelift. This process will involve sanding, priming, and painting and will take approximately 1.5 weeks to complete, depending on weather. Thank you for your patience!
These officers were recognized at this week’s City Council Meeting for their life-saving efforts. Thank you, Officers Meraz, McDuffie, Sidwell and Womer, for your continued dedication to the Addison community!
At the city council meeting on Tuesday night, Chief Spencer presented Certificates of Merit to several officers. Officer Meraz was given a Certificate of Merit for performing CPR on October 17, 2022 where the patient later walked out of the hospital on his own. Officers McDuffie, Sidwell, and Womer were given Certificates of Merit for their actions on a shooting call on September 28, 2022. These officers applied a tourniquet, gauze, and badges to the patient's multiple gunshot wounds before he was transported to the hospital where he survived.

Welcome to Addison, Firehawk Aerospace! Firehawk Aerospace has moved its corporate headquarters and research and development facility from Florida.
As it closes a $17.6 million funding round—including investments from Goff Capital and Raytheon—Firehawk Aerospace is claiming Addison as its new home.

Crews have closed northbound Addison Road at Belt Line to repair a traffic signal light that was hit by a car overnight. The entire intersection will be on flash this morning during rush hour. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Addison Economic Development & Tourism Department (EDT) recently hosted its monthly Meet and Greet event at 14801 Quorum Drive. Council Member Darren Gardner, Economic Development Manager Lauren Williams, and EDT Director Orlando Campos welcomed employees as they arrived to work and provided them with a light breakfast of bananas and granola bars as well as the Town’s restaurant guide. Thanks to Sarah Catherine Alford with Vista Holdings who manages the property for joining in the fun. The building is 100% occupied and is the headquarters of Supreme Lending Corporate and the law firm of Glast, Phillips & Murray.

GOOD NEWS: DART has just reopened Surveyor Boulevard at the railroad crossing!
NOT SO GOOD NEWS: DART will now begin work on the crossing at Quorum Drive. The contractor will be closing the outside lanes of Quorum at the railroad crossing on Monday, December 5. They will also be closing McEntire Place from Lewis Place to Quorum for the first phase of construction which is slated to be completed by the end of January 2023. During Phase 2, the inside lanes on Quorum will be closed and McEntire Place reopened. The second phase is expected to be finished by the end of March 2023.
The Dallas String Quartet will be performing during Vitruvian Lights on Saturday, December 3 from 6pm – 10pm. Vitruvian Lights is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with music, gourmet food trucks, photos with reindeer, and much more.
The tree lights will be on daily from 5pm – 11pm through January 1. Parking is available onsite at Vitruvian Park in the Bella Lane, Park Road, and Ponte Avenue parking lots.

Puttshack is coming to Addison and we can't wait to check it out. Thanks to Local Profile for the great behind-the-scenes look at this popular tech-infused mini-golf company that will be taking over the old 24-hour fitness facility in Village on the Parkway.
Look out North Texas, a new 28,000-square-foot mini golf experience will open at the Village on the Parkway in Addison, an open-air shopping center at 5100 Belt Line Road.
Beginning Monday, residents will want to grab a water bottle when they hit the trails. The Parks Department will be turning off the water and winterizing all 30 outdoor water fountains effective December 5. Winterizing involves shutting off the water and insulating the fountains to keep them from freezing which would cause long-term damage. The fountains will be off until the week of April 3, 2023.
In the meantime, we encourage the community to bring their own water when enjoying Addison's parks, including the dog parks, and trails during the winter months.
Thanks for your patience as Dallas Water Utilities continues to restore White Rock Creek after the water line break last winter. They are in the process of drilling the anchors for the gabion baskets that will be installed along the creek embankment. All work, including the turf and trail repairs, is scheduled to be completed by end of February 2023.

During the July 4th holiday, the Addison Police and Fire Departments frequently respond to calls regarding fireworks usage and fireworks injuries. Just a friendly (and humorous) reminder that fireworks are not legally allowed in any Dallas County city including Addison. Check out the video below for other important tips to help make your Independence Day safe. The best advice is to leave the fireworks to the professionals by making plans to attend Addison Kaboom Town! on July 3rd. It is the best town-wide party with watch parties at many Addison restaurants and businesses!

Since the start of the Midway Road Revitalization Project, Addison has made significant progress. Currently, the construction team anticipates having the majority of the construction south of Belt Line Road completed by the end of 2022. The phasing for this part of the project has recently been revised to help minimize the impact on the public. Specifically, the revision will allow for the reconstruction of the intersection at Hornet Road to be completed while Greenhill School is out for the summer and minimize the amount of construction adjacent to Belt Line Road during Kaboom Town! The new electronic sign on Belt Line Road is up, and we are pretty excited about it! The sign, which was approved as part of the 2012 bond election, will replace the vinyl banners that were used to promote special events in Addison.
The demolition and reconstruction of the northbound main lanes of Midway Road from Spring Valley Road to Proton Road begins next week. This will require shifting all Midway Road traffic to the current southbound lanes. Prep work for the traffic switch will begin on Monday, January 31 and the actual traffic switch will be completed on Tuesday, February 1. Please pay close attention as you travel through the area - traffic patterns will be changing. Thank you for your patience as we work to make Addison a better place to live, work and play.
Just a friendly reminder that the locker rooms and the indoor pool at the Addison Athletic Club are temporarily closed as the Club renovations begin.
