SAFE 64 Traffic Safety Initiative

On Thursday, June 4, the Addison Police Department will be joining several law enforcement agencies from DuPage and Kane Counties for the SAFE 64 Traffic Safety Initiative, a regional effort focused on safety along the Illinois Route 64 (North Avenue) corridor.

As part of this initiative, drivers can expect to see an increased police presence on North Avenue throughout the day. Officers will be focusing on traffic violations that continue to be major factors in serious crashes, including speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, seatbelt violations, aggressive driving, and commercial vehicle violations.

The goal isn’t simply writing tickets – it’s preventing crashes, encouraging safe driving habits, and keeping everyone who travels through our community safe.

Job Opportunity at the Addison Police Department

The Village of Addison is accepting applications for one full-time, non-exempt Clerk Typist position in the Police Department.

This is an entry-level secretarial classification working under direct supervision, performing general administrative support functions within the Police Department. The position includes routine and non-routine clerical duties and related tasks. Duties require some independent judgment and initiative, along with knowledge of the operating policies and procedures of the assigned section. Work is of routine difficulty and is reviewed by the Records Supervisor, Assistant Records Supervisor, or designee for compliance with established procedures.

Salary range is $60,391 – $83,596. The Village anticipates hiring at or near the starting pay of the position’s pay range. The application deadline is June 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM.

The next branch pickup is scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2026. Residents should have all branches placed at the curb by Sunday evening, May 31. Branches can range from a single broken branch to the pickup and removal of an entire tree, cut up and stacked as specified under the program's requirements.

Memorial Day Travel Period Campaign Results Are in

The Addison Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation for a Memorial Day Travel Period enforcement campaign from May 15 through May 26.

During this period, officers conducted high-visibility enforcement focused on seat belt violations, distracted driving, and other traffic related offenses.

Here are our post-grant results:
• 63 Traffic Stops
• 27 Seat Belt Citations
• 3 DUI Arrests
• 6 Criminal Arrests
• 4 Traffic Arrests
• 12 Distracted Driving Citations
• 10 Speeding Citations
• 12 Car Seat Violations
• 25 Other Traffic Violations

The Village of Addison is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time Accountant vacancy in the Finance Department.

This position works 37.5 hours per week (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday), with occasional extended hours as needed. Under the general direction of the Assistant Finance Director, the Accountant will perform routine accounting functions and support a variety of administrative and financial processes essential to the Village’s daily operations.

The salary range for this position is $87,881 to $121,648 annually.
