Last Friday, Sergeant Brad Riley, along with former alumni Officer Natalie Obrzut and Officer Peter Mares, picked up toys that St. Philip the Apostle School had collected from its annual Stuff the Squad event for the Toys for Tots drive run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
Before they left, the kindergarten class gave them a special police officer blessing. We thought we would share it with you. Thank you, St. Philip! JS419 #APDproud
Don't let your Halloween fun end in a nightmare. Everyone is at risk when you choose to drive drunk. JS419 #DriveSoberOrGetPulledOver #ImpairedDrivingIsScary
Halloween party this weekend? Check. Costume? Check. Sober ride home? You'd better check! #DriveSoberIllinois #ImpairedDrivingIsScary JS419 #APDcares #BeSafe
This Halloween, the Addison Police Department is cracking down on drunk, drugged driving.
The Addison Police urges motorists to commit to sober driving, buckling up, and following traffic laws this Halloween, as children and their families walk through neighborhoods after dark for candy and spooky fun.
If you are planning to enjoy Halloween festivities, make sure you also plan for a safe, sober ride home. DUIs are not limited to alcohol-related offenses. It’s illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol, cannabis or any other drug or substance. Remember – “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” Be safe, Addison. It's never too early to talk about Halloween safety. Before Halloween arrives this year, be sure to choose a costume that won't cause safety hazards. Follow these costume safety tips:
* Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
* Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision.
* Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
* When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.
Be safe, Addison. JS419 #APDcares

SCAM ALERT -- There’s a new scam in the area. Scammers are posing as representatives from Microsoft Tech Support offering in-home services. Victims are instructed to make cash withdrawals from their bank and hand off the money to a “cash currier” before the tech begins work on the computer.
Tech support scams often try to scare unsuspecting victims into thinking that something is wrong with their computer. This can include displaying a pop-up on a browser that claims the computer has been infected with a virus. The pop-up will then direct the victim to call a number, where they can talk with a technical support agent to resolve the problem. In reality, the tech support agent is merely a scammer, usually out to trick the victim into handing over their funds. JS419 #APDcares
