August's ASD4 Difference Maker, Aurora Gonzalez- District Registrar.
Dr. Morgese and Dr. Purse nominated Aurora and stated the following:
"Since stepping into the role of Registrar, Aurora has exceeded every expectation. She embraced a challenging position with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine desire to serve others. From day one, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that every family feels welcomed and supported throughout the registration process. Aurora doesn't just complete the tasks expected of her—she continually looks for ways to improve the process, solve problems, and make the experience easier for our families and staff. She understands that registering a child is often a family's first interaction with our district, and she goes above and beyond to make that experience positive, welcoming, and stress-free. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence have elevated this role far beyond what we imagined. She approaches every challenge with a positive attitude and is always willing to lend a helping hand. The impact she has made in such a short time has been remarkable, and our district is stronger because of her hard work and dedication. Aurora, thank you for your outstanding service, your unwavering commitment to our students and families, and for truly making a difference every single day. Dr. Katie Purse stated: "Aurora Gonzalez is truly deserving of the Difference Maker Award for the exceptional care, organization, and dedication she brings to her work every day as our district registrar. She consistently maintains accurate, organized student records, ensuring that our registration and enrollment processes run smoothly and efficiently for students, families, and staff. This summer, Aurora played a pivotal role in the success of our Kindergarten Camp by proactively communicating with families about the purpose and benefits of the program. She helped families understand that Kindergarten Camp was more than an orientation—it was an opportunity for students to become familiar with school routines, practice daily procedures in a low-stress environment, and participate in screening activities before the first day of school, setting them up for a successful transition into kindergarten. Her commitment to equity was especially evident in her work with multilingual families. Aurora carefully coordinated the screening process for students who speak another language or have languages other than English spoken in the home, ensuring they were assessed before the start of the school year. This thoughtful planning allowed students to be accurately placed in dual language or monolingual programming before the first day of school, creating a positive start for students, families, teachers, and administrators alike. Aurora consistently goes above and beyond to ensure our registration systems are student-centered, equitable, and responsive to the needs of every family. Her attention to detail, outstanding communication, and unwavering commitment to doing what is best for students make a lasting impact on our district. She is a true Difference Maker, and our students, families, and staff are better because of her dedication. This year, 168 students participated in K Camp. In addition to Aurora, I want to thank our K Camp Coordinator and the teachers, paraprofessionals, screener staff, and principals who made this enrichment experience successful for the Class of 2039 ." - Dr. Katie Purse, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
