The Daily Bread of Lenawee Our mission is to provide nutritious meals and fellowship in a compassionate and safe environment. On March 1, 2001, the first Daily Bread meal was served.

The Daily Bread of Lenawee founder, Charlene Wielfaert, owner of a small family restaurant had the goal of establishing a soup kitchen. She located a building for sale, formerly the Breakfast Club on the east side of town. Her heart was uplifted and she pulled over and said to herself “This is it, and it shall be called The Daily Bread of Lenawee”. Charlene wrote to several businesses and foundati

ons requesting donations and was able to leverage enough to purchase the building. For the next several months, she and volunteers cleaned and scrubbed the facility for the hungry. We provide nutritious meals and fellowship in a compassionate and safe environment. We are a “family” that cares about the people who enter our doors. Lasting friendships and positive changes are made and nurtured within our walls. The Daily Bread is funded by monetary, in-kind, and product donations by our generous donors, and grants provided by local foundations and organizations. Hot meals and food pantry are provided Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30am-2:00pm. Food donations can be dropped off Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am-4:30pm at 302 S. Tecumseh St. Adrian, MI. Monetary donations can be mailed to The Daily Bread P.O. Box 894 Adrian, MI 49221, or securely via PayPal. The Daily Bread also depends on our volunteers, we couldn’t do it if it wasn’t for them! The Daily Bread works with the local probation department to allow individuals to perform community service hours (some restrictions apply).
