Advance School District, due to sickness, is canceling school for Wednesday and Thursday this week. We will also not be in session on Friday and Monday as planned in the school calendar. School will resume on Tuesday, February 18th.
All extra curricular activities WILL still take place.
The school has built in enough hours in our calendar that this will not alter the calendar. School will still be out the days that were originally planned to be out and the last day of school will still be May 14th. I have confirmed this with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Custodial staff will be taking the next two days to deep clean and disinfect the school. Please take this opportunity to wash coats, hats, gloves.
Letters will be going home with students today regarding this.
Elementary valentine parties are reschedule to next Friday, February 21 at 2:15 pm.

Please have your little cheerleaders at the school by 5:45. They will meet their big cheerleader in the gym. They will get their shirt when they arrive at the gym.
Little cheerleaders are to sit in their assigned area with their big cheerleader during the JV game.
They will cheer during the JV game. They will preform their dance at halftime of JV, facing the scores table.
After the JV game, you MUST sign your little cheerleader out, then they are free to go!

AHS Boys basketball travels to Woodland on Tuesday. Woodland is playing a makeup girls game at 5pm against another school. Our JV boys game will not start until between 615pm and 630pm. Sorry for any inconvenience. Come support the team!
AHS Boys Basketball travels to Dexter today to complete the SCAA Tournament. JV plays Bloomfield for 3rd place at 3pm. Varsity plays Richland for 3rd place at 4:30pm.
All-Tournament Cheer team and Cheer Award will be announced at the conclusion of the Varsity Championship game. All-Conference Basketball team will be announced at the conclusion of the Varsity season.

Advance Schools, as part of receiving Federal Title 1 funds, must conduct a Family Engagement Survey with families being served by Title funds. Since Advance R-4 School is a school wide Title school, this survey is open to all Advance School families. We ask that you take a few minutes to complete this survey.

The lockdown at Advance Schools is over. We are no longer on lockdown. Law enforcement has advised us that it is safe to do so. All students and staff are safe. We will update if we get any further information.

Advance schools, as a precaution and on advice from law enforcement, are going on lockdown. We ask that parent please refrain from coming to the school. All students are safe. We will update as soon as we can or if we hear any other details.
I have spoken to Officer Bohnsack and he told me there was no threat to the school and no reason to be on lockdown.
So to reiterate, Advance Schools is operating normally today. We have taken a few extra precautions such as having indoor recess. The safety and well being of our students are our number one priorities.
Contrary to rumors floating around, Advance schools are NOT on lockdown. We are doing our normal day to day operations.
This past week was Homecoming and we were BUSY! LOST OF GREAT memories were made! Congratulations to Darcie Tidwell and Keaton Mayberry (who was home sick 😣) as our Queen and King of 2020 AHS Basketball Homecoming!!
