Neighbor Helping Neighbor! 🚒💦

When duty calls, we answer. Following a major water main break in Winston-Salem today, Tanker 12 (lovingly known as "Little Yadkin") was called into action for a critical mutual aid assignment with the City of Winston-Salem Fire Department.

Tanker 12 is currently on-scene shuttle-supplying water directly to Ladder 2, ensuring the cooling chillers at Novant Health remain fully operational and keeping critical medical infrastructure running smoothly.

We’re proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our brother and sister firefighters at Winston-Salem Fire to keep our regional healthcare heroes and patients safe and cool! 🤝❤️

🔥 Is your phone or laptop charging right now? Check where it’s sitting! 🔌📱💻

Did you know that soft surfaces like beds, couches, and pillows trap heat while your electronics charge? That extra heat is a leading cause of device fires.
Keep your home and family safe with these 4 Easy Battery Safety Tips:

1️⃣ Stick to Hard, Flat Surfaces: Always charge laptops and phones on a desk, table, or nightstand—never on bedding or upholstered furniture.

2️⃣ Use Approved Gear: Cheap, unbranded chargers and cables can overload your battery. Stick to official or manufacturer-certified accessories.

3️⃣ Check Your Cables: Frayed, pinched, or damaged cords are a fire hazard. Swap them out immediately!

4️⃣ Don't Overcharge: Unplug devices once they hit 100% and avoid charging electronics under your pillow or overnight while you sleep.

Save this post for later and share it with someone who always charges their phone in bed! 👇

Whew, is it just us, or did someone crank the thermostat to "surface of the sun" today? 🥵☀️

When the temperatures skyrocket, it’s not just our sweat glands working overtime, the risk for fires and heat-related illnesses shoots up too. While you're finding ways to stay cool, let’s make sure we're keeping our homes and communities safe.

Here is your quick checklist to beat the heat:

Beat the Heat (Personal Safety)

💦Hydrate before you're thirsty: Water is your best friend right now. Don't wait until you're parched to start drinking.

🚥Know the signs: Heat exhaustion (heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea) can quickly turn into heat stroke (high body temp, confusion, fainting). If you or someone else feels dizzy, get to the AC immediately.

☎️Check on your crew: Drop a text to elderly neighbors, family, and don't forget to bring your pets inside. If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

What an incredible morning! We were absolutely honored to lead off the annual Oak Valley Community 4th of July Parade today, kicking off the neighborhood celebrations with big smiles, loud cheers, and plenty of red, white, and blue!

Seeing the streets lined with our amazing neighbors, families, and friends reminds us why we love being a part of this community so much. Thank you to the Oak Valley organizers for having us, and to everyone who waved, cheered, and celebrated alongside us.

Here’s a look at some of our favorite moments from the front of the line! 👇

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

Today isn't just any Independence Day, it’s the Quarter-Semicentennial! 250 years of freedom, community, and the enduring American spirit.
Here at the Advance Fire Department, we are incredibly proud to protect and serve a community that embodies those very values every single day. While our nation celebrates two and a half centuries of history, our personnel are standing by, ready to answer the call because dedication to country and community never takes a day off.

🔥 A Quick Tip from Our Crew:

We love the sparks and splendor of the 4th just as much as anyone, but we prefer our fireworks in the sky, not in the brush! As you celebrate this historic milestone with family, friends, and backyard barbecues, please keep safety at the forefront:

🇺🇲Leave the big shows to the professionals.
🇺🇲Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby for sparklers.
🇺🇲Make sure your designated grill master is keeping an eye on the flames.

We want to make sure the only sirens you hear today are the ones in the parades!

Thank you, Advance, for letting us serve you. Have a safe, happy, and unforgettable 250th Fourth of July! 🎉🚒
