City of Afton Iowa The City of Afton, Iowa is a rural town in Southwest Iowa with a population of 874. Founded in 1854

The City of Afton is responsible for the Afton Lake, Afton Recreation Complex, Greenlawn Cemetery, Community Center, Wi-Fi Center and the City Park. We invoice residents monthly for Electric, Sewer and Garbage service. Our Recreation Board is responsible for several youth activities throughout the year and serve several youth in the East Union School district as well as other surrounding towns.

FYI

If you’re are approached by some people trying to “help” assess storm damage to your property they do not have a sales permit with the city of Afton. They claim to be a roofing and solar company from Des Moines. Please use caution when approached by door to door sales.

Ram roofing and Solar are in because of damage from the storm, they did come to City Hall and get a permit to go around door to door.

FYI
Aureon fiber line was cut to the Verizon cell tower in Afton during the storm. This affects cell service & Internet. Once the fiber is repaired service will be restored. No ETA for restored service at this time.

We will leave the tree dump unlocked through the weekend for anyone doing storm clean up.
