Not sure what to do with those banana peels, coffee grounds or dinner leftovers? In Agoura Hills, food scraps belong in your organics cart along with yard waste and food-soiled paper.

What Goes in the Organics Cart? 💚
Food scraps can include fruits and vegetables, meat, fish and poultry, dairy products, bread, pasta, rice, grains and coffee grounds. Food-soiled paper and yard waste also belong in the organics cart.

Bag It Before You Toss It 🥗
Here’s an important Agoura Hills sorting tip: food scraps should be contained in a plastic bag or paper bag before being placed in your organics cart. Keep the bag secure so it does not become loose in the cart.

Plastic containers, foam containers, serve ware and utensils should stay out of the organics cart.

Separating food scraps from the trash helps keep organic material out of landfills, where it can generate methane as it breaks down. It also helps conserve limited landfill space. This small change at home supports Agoura Hills’ efforts to reduce organic waste, limit methane emissions and preserve landfill capacity.

Happy National Senior Citizens Day, Agoura Hills! 💛

Today we're handing the mic to the folks who've been here longer than we have. We asked some of our seniors what advice they'd pass along to the younger generation, and their answers say a lot about the community they helped build.

Swipe through to read what they shared.

To every senior in Agoura Hills: thank you for the stories, the patience, and the example you set for the rest of us. Respecting and showing love to those who came before us is how a community stays whole.

And if you or someone you love wants to get more involved, our senior programs at the Recreation and Event Center run all year, and there's always a seat open. Reach out at [email protected] for upcoming events and membership info. 🌿

Today, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of this beautiful new space in Agoura Hills. With equestrian, walking and biking trails, native plants, butterfly gardens and spaces to gather, the Greenway is a place to connect, explore and enjoy our community’s natural beauty.

A new gathering place for Agoura Hills, rooted in nature and community. 💚

Happy first day of school, LVUSD students! 🎒📚

As our students make their way to and from school, we’re asking everyone in Agoura Hills to do their part to help keep our roads and sidewalks safe. Drivers, please slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for students walking, biking, and riding e-bikes.

Students, remember to stay aware of your surroundings, use crosswalks and bike lanes when available, and follow the rules of the road.

And for our e-bike riders: ride legally and safely! Agoura Hills’ e-bike ordinance includes requirements for safe operation, including following traffic laws and age- and equipment-related requirements. LVUSD also limits e-bike use on its campuses to students with a valid driver’s license.

Have a wonderful start to the school year!
