Our littlest Voyagers are growing their curiosity right alongside our garden! 🌱🍅🥒
Our TK students spent time in the Sumac Garden tasting, exploring, and trying something new; juicy cherry tomatoes fresh from the garden and a delicious cucumber salad! There’s something pretty special about watching students discover where their food comes from and bravely give a new vegetable a try.

Hands-on learning, healthy choices, and happy little gardeners. This is learning at Sumac! 💚💛

We look forward to welcoming our Voyager families to campus for Back-to-School Night!

This special evening is an opportunity to visit your child’s classroom, meet their teacher, learn about classroom routines and expectations, and hear about the exciting learning ahead in Spanish and English.

We cannot wait to share how we are launching a wonderful year of learning, belonging, biliteracy, and exploration at Sumac! 💚💛

Picture Day is coming to Sumac on Wednesday, September 2!
There is no need to prepay or submit an order form. Simply send your child to school dressed and ready to show their Voyager smile! After Picture Day, families will receive an email with a link to preview photographs and order online. Orders will be shipped directly to your home.

Picture Day tips:
💚 Solid colors and simple patterns photograph beautifully.
💚 Collared shirts and detailed necklines work well.
💚 Avoid large logos and very busy patterns.

MATH LEARNING IS ROCKING IN KINDERGARTEN! 🔢🔵🔺
During our first full week of school, our kindergarten Voyagers are building strong mathematical foundations through joyful, hands-on exploration!

Students are identifying shapes and colors, practicing counting, sorting objects, recognizing patterns, and sharing their mathematical thinking in Spanish and English. Through playful learning stations and purposeful conversations, our teachers are making cada minuto cuenta, every minute counts!

During our first full week of school, our first-grade Voyagers are jumping right into joyful learning! From the moment the day begins, students are immersed in purposeful Spanish and English activities that strengthen their growing biliteracy.

Through small-group reading and writing, letter exploration, conversation, and hands-on practice, our teachers are making cada minuto cuenta, every minute counts!

LOST SOMETHING, VOYAGERS? 🚀
Our Lost and Found is already collecting jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunchboxes, and other belongings searching for their way home!

Please label your child’s belongings and encourage your Voyager to check the Lost and Found regularly. Clothing and everyday items are placed in our designated Lost and Found area. Smaller valuables, including watches, glasses, and jewelry, are kept safely in the Main Office.

Unclaimed items are donated to local charities several times throughout the year, so please stop by and take a look before they blast off to a new home!

DRESSED AND READY TO EXPLORE! 🚀
A quick reminder that our Voyagers should come to school dressed comfortably, safely, and ready to learn.

Students need clothing that allows them to move safely and participate fully in everything the school day may bring, including PE, sitting on the floor, outdoor learning, and wonderfully messy art projects! Secure, closed-toe shoes with heel or ankle backings are encouraged. Please do not send students in sandals or flip-flops.

Clothing, accessories, words, and images must be appropriate for school, respectful of others, and free from messages promoting drugs, alcohol, to***co, offensive content, or discrimination.

Thank you for helping our Voyagers arrive ready to learn, move, create, and explore!

A marvelous first Monday at Sumac! 💫
Our Voyagers jumped into our first five-day week with enthusiasm, curiosity, and plenty of smiles. Classrooms were full of joyful learning, growing connections, and students settling confidently into their new routines.
