We had a great time at Horse Creek Academy today! 💙

Our forensic interviewer and family advocate spent time with 11th and 12th grade students sharing more about the work we do at the Child Advocacy Center, the different career opportunities available in child advocacy, and the education and experiences that led them to their own careers at the CAC.

We love getting the opportunity to connect with students, introduce them to the work of the CAC, and show them that there are so many meaningful ways to build a career helping children and families. 💙

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dolly Parton — a true advocate and a gift to children everywhere. 🤍

Through her music, generosity, and lifelong commitment to helping children, Dolly touched countless lives and inspired generations. From supporting childhood literacy through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to championing children and families in need, her impact reaches far beyond the stage.

Her kindness, compassion, and dedication to giving children opportunities to learn, grow, and dream will be remembered for generations to come.

Thank you, Dolly, for being such a powerful advocate for children. Your legacy will continue to inspire us all. 🦋

Next week, two members of our team, Fatima Thompson (Forensic Interviewer) and Ansleigh McIntosh (Family Advocate), will be visiting Horse Creek Academy to connect with 11th and 12th grade students! 💙

They’ll be sharing about their educational and career journeys, how they found their way to the Child Advocacy Center of Aiken County, the different career opportunities within the field of child advocacy, and what we do here at the CAC.

We’re excited for the opportunity to introduce students to the many paths that can lead to a meaningful career serving children and families!

In this episode, Aiken Chamber President/CEO Jim Tunison chats with Fatima Thompson, Forensic Interviewer and MDT Coordinator for the Child Advocacy Center of Aiken County.

Fatima brings a powerful mix of psychology, servant leadership, and frontline advocacy to this conversation. She discusses why the Child Advocacy Center’s model is designed so children only have to tell their story once, how forensic interviews and multidisciplinary teams protect kids without overwhelming them, and why free trauma-focused behavioral therapy can be a lifeline after disclosure. Fatima also shares what she’s learned from working with “misunderstood” youth, how adults can spot warning signs earlier, and why teachers, parents, and caregivers need to trust their instincts and ask the hard questions.
