At our monthly Continuing Education Training, we were honored to have The Aiken Center and Dr. Daniel come speak with us. This is the beginning of Aiken County EMS and The Aiken Center partnering in assisting citizens in our area with recovery during the opioid epidemic. We would also like to thank Mr. Miles Williams, of Miles Catering, for sharing his wonderful food with us!

We all have heavy hearts today as we mourn the loss of a wonderful Deputy. We extend our condolences to the family of Sgt. McCord and to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. John was well liked and always helped our providers in any way he could.

The coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19, can only be stopped by you taking personal health and safety precautions for yourself and those around you.

Evidence is increasing about the high rates of infection in people who do not have symptoms and don’t know they are infectious.

This places everyone at risk of getting the virus or unknowingly transmitting it to someone else. Steps we can take to protect ourselves and others include:

- Stay at least 6 feet away from people you don’t live with
- Wear a mask in public
- Avoid touching frequently touched items
- Regularly wash your hands
- Monitor yourself and family for symptoms

If you’re concerned about COVID-19, talk to your doctor. Your primary care physician knows you best. For telehealth options and the latest information about DHEC’s COVID-19 response efforts, visit scdhec.gov/COVID19. Visit ‪scdmh.net‬ for stress, anxiety and mental health resources from the S.C. Department of Mental Health.

Pig the Stinker By: Aaron Blabey

Being smelly is the pits,
but with a name like Pig it sort of fits.
A bath would be oh so very nice,
but with smelly pugs you should think twice!

Once again we are humbled by our amazing community! Today our crews were fed by the office of Dr. Trey Vereen, DMD Family and Cosmetic Dentistry. We cannot thank Dr. Vereen and his team enough for taking the time to show our crews how much they are appreciated. A hot meal is so hard to come by somedays, and we are grateful. Thank you Dr. Vereen!
