This adorable caterpillar craft may look like a simple art project, but our preschoolers are building important developmental skills with every pom-pom they place! 🐛

Using glue, grasping the tiny felt pom-poms, and carefully placing them on the popsicle stick helps strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. Following the steps to create their caterpillars also encourages focus, patience, problem-solving, and following directions—all while giving children the freedom to make something uniquely their own! 💛

Bookbag Bash impact doesn't stop with one event - this week, we delivered 20 backpacks with school supplies to Children's Place in Aiken as part of our ongoing effort to make sure supplies reach kids across the areas we serve.

Children's Place, Inc. is an Aiken-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting, healing, and strengthening families and children who have experienced trauma, through education, treatment, and prevention services. It's an honor to support the work they do every day.

This isn't the only way we show up for Children's Place, either! Every May, Hawk Law Group supports their Celebrity Waiter Night, with our own Attorney Kip McAlister serving as a celebrity waiter. It's always a great time, and we're grateful for more chances throughout the year to support a cause that means a lot to us.

It’s time for July’s Staff Spotlight! This month, we are highlighting Jackie Brooks, a Family Resource Specialist and valued member of our Family Connections team for two years!

Jackie studied Sociology at Claflin University and went on to earn her master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at South Carolina State University.

“Jackie is someone our team can always count on,” says Marilyn Harris, Family Connections Director. “She is dedicated and arrives ready to serve.”

Jackie loves what she does for one simple reason: our mission — to protect, heal, and strengthen children and families from the impact of trauma — is the heart of her work and her favorite part of the job. She hopes to strengthen the families she serves by “providing the support and resources they need to become healthier, productive, and more stable in all areas of their lives.”

Thank you, Jackie, for your unwavering commitment to the children and families we serve. We are so grateful to have you as part of the Children's Place family! 💙

This morning, 23 children graduated from our Therapeutic Child Care program, proudly walking out our doors with diplomas in hand! 🎓

Together with their families, we celebrated this exciting milestone while reflecting on how much each child has learned, grown, and accomplished during their time at Children's Place.

Their success is made possible by the unwavering dedication of our Therapeutic Child Care team, family counselors, and staff, who pour their hearts into helping every child reach their fullest potential. We are incredibly proud of our graduates and can't wait to watch them continue to learn, grow, and shine as they begin kindergarten! 📚❤️

💡 This month, Marilyn Harris, our Family Connections Director at Children's Place, shares her :

Safe sleep saves lives. 💤

Creating a safe sleep environment is one of the most important things you can do to protect your baby during their first year of life. Remember the ABCs of Safe Sleep:

•Alone: Babies should sleep ALONE, without blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, or crib bumpers.
•Back: Always place your baby on their BACK for every sleep.
•Crib: Use a safety-approved CRIB, bassinet, or play yard with a firm mattress and fitted sheet.

Following these simple but crucial guidelines helps reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths and supports healthy development.

Every nap. Every night. Every time. 😴🩵

It may look like a simple activity, but these little hands are doing big work. 💙⁣

By strengthening fine motor skills, children are building the foundation for everyday tasks like writing, using scissors, buttoning clothes, feeding themselves, and more! Every squeeze is another step toward greater confidence and independence.⁣
