Air Force CyberWorx and our Director, Col Tharommony In, were honored to host Susan Davenport, Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer within the Office of the Chief Information Officer, at the Madera Cyber Innovation Center!

During her visit, the team shared an overview of AF CyberWorx initiatives focused on accelerating innovation across the Department of War through collaboration with industry, academia, and government partners. Discussions highlighted the role of venture capital engagement, SBIR/STTR-related efforts, and the unique value of leveraging USAFA’s PhD talent and research ecosystem to help address challenges in AI, intelligence, acquisition supply management, and cyber operations.

We appreciate the opportunity to showcase how AF CyberWorx is helping connect emerging technologies and innovative partnerships to support the future of DoW and Department of the Air Force and Space Force AI initiatives.

🏔️ Safe glacier travel requires teamwork (ropes), a keen sense of environmental conditions (sensor-informed weather modeling and operator judgment), traction tools (ice axes and crampons), and deep respect for the dynamic, high-altitude, operating environment.

Air Force CyberWorx prosecutes its mission similarly with “roped-up” cross-functional teams, committed to sinking their hooks into rapidly-evolving, threat-informed, operationally-grounded and technologically-inspired landscapes of the possible!

That spirit was recently reflected at Camp Muir on Mt. Rainier, where AF CyberWorx Design Facilitator Nate Schwagler raised the unit flag alongside American mountaineering legend Dave Hahn, who holds the record for the most all-time Everest summits by an American. Camp Muir also served as a primary winter training ground for the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division as soldiers prepared for alpine operations during WWII. 🪖

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we enjoy today and continues to inspire those committed to protecting our country and supporting the mission of national defense.

🏆 MSgt Mike Chavez, Superintendent of Cyber Operations and Senior Enlisted Leader, received the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer award.
🏆 Capt Ricky Smith, Operations Officer, received the Company Grade Officer award.
🏆 Patrick Ward, Network Administrator, received the Civilian Category III award.

These recognitions reflect the dedication and impact each of these individuals brings to the mission every day. We are proud to have them on our team and grateful for the expertise they provide! Congratulations, Team!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Wanda T. Jones-Heath, Department of the Air Force Principal Cyber Advisor, for a full day highlighting the Computer, Cyber, Data, and Behavioral Science programs here at the United States Air Force Academy.

Dr. Jones-Heath also visited with the USAFA's Cyber Competition Team as they wrapped up their NSA Cyber Exercise (NCX). Unknown at the time of the visit, the Cyber Competition Team came in 1st place in NCX, giving them back-to-back wins for 2025 and 2026!

AF CyberWorx has a unique opportunity in the Madera Cyber Innovation Center to bring cadets, senior leaders, and mission partners together in one place. That proximity enables meaningful engagement, strengthens collaboration, and helps accelerate ideas that directly support the future of the Air and Space Forces.

🛰️ We're wrapping up a great week at the Space Foundation's Space Symposium!

We spent the week at The Broadmoor alongside Catalyst Campus and partners from across the DoW, government, and industry. We had a lot of good conversations about current challenges and where collaboration can help move things forward for the warfighter and the mission.
