As we close at the year, we had a few of our student-athletes receive some awesome awards. Four Kadet student-athletes, Bailey, Kinley, Parker, and Xavier, earned Rotary Champions Medallions in their respective sports. We also had one Kadet, Lexie, named to the Lead ‘Em Up Green13 National Award!

(The Rotary Champions program recognizes outstanding scholar-athletes from high schools across the Pikes Peak Region. Students are nominated by their school’s athletic department based on their academic, athletic, and community service accomplishments. Each year, more than 150 student-athletes are honored, with only one medallion awarded in each CHSAA sport.
Congratulations to our medallion winners:
Softball – Bailey Williams
Girls Basketball – Kinley Asp
Boys Tennis – Parker Lee
Boys Track & Field – Xavier Cofield. )

(The Green13 recognizes 13 student-athletes from across the country who exemplify the highest level of leadership, character, and impact on others. Each honoree is nominated by a coach or teacher and selected as one of the very best after a national review process. Lexie Lueckeman has demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose, investing in teammates, competing with integrity, and representing her program the right way every day.)

Kadets, this week you will turn in your school laptop and dell charger to your KAT teacher once you no longer need them for finals. Remove any stickers before turning in, and please note fees will be applied for devices that are not returned.

Reminder: KAT on Tuesday and Wednesday will be the last block of the finals day. KAT on Thursday will begin after lunch. Make sure you hold onto your laptop for any finals that may require your device.

For the last Kadet News of the 25-25 school year, the crew took some extra time this year to put together a monster-sized episode of you! In this episode, they captured all the heart-tugging moments from this year's graduation activities, examined the Air Academy Parking Lot traffic and see if any order can be brought to the madness, our reporter sits down with Principal Rip to ask how her first year in the "hot seat" was, and the Kadet Sports Team fires up the grill with the Air Academy boys lacrosse team. Kadet News says "thank you for all your support this year and see you in the fall!"

At the end of February, the AAHS Film program submitted their movie, Halloweenies, to the KickAss 72-hour Film Contest. This was the first time that the program has entered any state-wide film contest. The movie earned six nominations for "Best Actor" (Ari Seballes), "Best Supporting Actress" (Ariel Alvear), "Best Use of Character", "Best Score", "Best Use of Prop", and "Best Screenplay".

The movie beat 46 other teams of professional filmmakers to take home the "Best Use of Prop" award and was the only team of highschoolers to enter the contest!

This makes the second award the AAHS program has claimed, with the first being "Best Overall Film" at ThesCon earlier this year. We are so proud of this great achievement by our filmmaking Kadets!🎉🥳

Important information for this week, next week, and device turn in:

Kadets and Kadet families, here is our schedule for the week. Monday and Tuesday will be standard blue and silver days. Wednesday is Graduation, as a reminder high school students will not attend class on the day of their high school’s graduation ceremony. Thursday and Friday will KAT schedules.

Looking ahead for next week, check out the finals week schedule. Monday is a standard blue day, and finals will begin Tuesday with S1, S2, and S3 finals. Wednesday will be B1, B2, and B3 finals. Thursday will be B4 and S4 finals.

Another thing to note that is coming up is the district-provided device turn-in. Student's KAT teacher will have a box for collection. All students will be turning in their DPDs at the end of the school year with the exception of students taking summer school, an AP exam, or a required summer assignment.
This is happening because D20 high school students will be receiving a Chromebook at the beginning of next school year. This change is in response to the need for devices with improved performance (speed, battery life) to support teaching and learning.
