Thank you to all who came out and dealt with all the wind today and participated in the Akaska Fire Dept Fishing Derby!

Congratulations to:

1st place Terry Bandt and George Kessler

2nd place Don and Sherry Olsen who took largest walleye with a weight of 10.1 lbs

3rd place Collin Heupel and Nick Koch

4th and 5th place tie between Blake and Maya Anderson team and the Brandi Weinman and Neal Allbee team

6th place was also a tie between the Dan Sunne and Todd Sprung team sharing with the Rob and Derek Dumdie team

Thank you again to the 35 teams that pushed through the wind and made this another successful derby!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has and continues to support the Akaska Fire Dept! Through fundraisers like the Akaska Fishing Derby, our fall fundraiser, queen of hearts boards or just random donations. Because of you all we were able to update one of our old trucks to this brand new brush truck. Your generosity doesn’t go unnoticed!

🎣 Akaska Walleye Derby is Back! 🎣

It’s that time of year again! The Akaska Volunteer Fire Department is excited to host the **Akaska Walleye Derby** on June 6th — and we’d love to see you there!

Kick things off with us on **Friday, June 5th** at the Akaska Community Center:
🍽️ Pork Loin Feed** starting at 5:30 PM
💰Calcutta Auction** to follow at 7:00 PM
(*Each team must have a representative present for the Calcutta*)

💵 **Entry Fee:** $80 per team

This is a fun, amateur-only tournament, designed to keep things relaxed and enjoyable for all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just out for a good time, this derby is all about community, laughs, and making memories on the water.

We’re limiting the tournament to **50 teams**, and spots tend to go quick—so don’t wait to sign up!
